I only wear it in St Louis because that's the only place I've been where the locals tend to shoot people without warning or perceptible reason. Locally, the punks like to run their mouth a lot and work up to it; plenty of time to walk away. The only way to 'win' a gunfight is to avoid it completely. I have no problem with bravely running away if given the opportunity.

I wouldn't have any problem asking/telling my relative that he is welcome in my house but his firearm is not, especially if he keeps having issues controlling it. I don't mind telling relatives not to smoke in my house, my house my rules. They then can make their choice whether or not to come to your home or not.

I often don't make a very good proponent of the NRA. In my mind I often have a difficult time balancing the constitutional right vs. the public good. There are plenty of folks who carry that I wish wouldn't at least not around me, and plenty of others who dont but if they did cary I wouldn't think twice about it. The best tactic the truly rabid anti-gun folks have is to divide and conquer, as long as they can keep gun owners fighting amonst ourselves they have a chance. Without that division, and with the second amendment still there, it will be a very tough uphill battle for them as SCOTUS has ruled on more than one occasion, especially since the writings of some of the founding fathers made it quite clear why they included the second amendment. Personally I don't believe there will ever be a need for it in that manner (protection against the government), just don't see it happening.

Thats enough for me, like some others said, none of us are gonna convince anyone else, and I have a depthfinder that needs installing, good sweaty job for the evening.

Hey rps,

Those links are as trusted as the Obama admin...Look at who did the study on some. A backyard media nutso who was born anti-gun. Just gotta smile at those things.

Ol' wrench said, again in his non-educated opinion, that not ONE of these pro-gun guys even own a vest. Well, i have to disagree because i must be the one you didnt put in that same group. I have owned, and wore one for years. Little warm standing on the pavement working an accident in August, when its 100+ out, but its a tool of tge trade.

Hoglaw, as far as im aware, no CC is needed to carry a firearm inside of a vehicle for ANY reason. Nope, just lay it on the seat where the guy trying to car jack your car, and my guess is he would be running for the hills after seeing it. Now without that same protection, your just up a creek with no paddle v

If you actually read the material in the links, one of the studies was by Harvard.

Simple question: Did you actually read all the material before your knee jerked?

I can and do speak from experience on the following. I grew up in the city of St Louis, in one of the less desired neighborhoods on the "state streets " and attended the St Louis public schools. ( explains the bad grammar ) I find it funny, people who feel the need to carry when they visit. If you don't already have a gun drawn, you will not protect your self from someone who is trying to rob you. I have witnessed a couple drive by shootings, seen a handful of bodies before the white sheet was put over them. I have never been shot, none of my vehicles were ever compromised with bullet holes. I have been held up at gunpoint. We need stiffer penalties for people who commit crimes.

I can answer for Arkansas, not sure about Missouri. It's a misdemeanor. Maybe a Class A, so punishable by a fine of up to $1000 and a year in jail, though it's almost always just a fine and confiscation. Having a CC permit is an affirmative defense to the charge.

The actual charge is "carrying a weapon." When I prosecuted gun cases, I typically required some kind of evidence of intent to employ a gun as a weapon before I would go forward on them. To me, that meant that it needed to be loaded, in the glove box, etc. I wouldn't prosecute where the gun was cased, the guy was on the way to the deer woods with a shotgun, etc. The law was pretty vague actually. But if someone was just transporting a gun from A to B, or taking a gun to go hunting or target shooting or something like that, I didn't view it as a criminal act. If they were just riding around town with a loaded gun under the seat and had no CC permit, then I would prosecute and let them explain to the judge why they weren't "carrying a weapon." I don't think I ever sent anyone to jail over it. Just fines and forefiture of the gun.

In Missouri the criminal charge is Unlawful Use of a Weapon. It is a Class D Felony punishable by a fine of up to $5,000 and imprisonment up to 4 years.

Still think you look like a doofus when your packing open. Why carry a heavy chunk of metal around just in case? You can defend yourself with anything around you. Plenty of weapons of opportunity that are found anywhere.

I received a Gander Mtn circular in this mornings Post-Dispatch. For all you concealed carry, nut-job, Batman-wanna-be's . . . make sure to take advantage of the great deals being offered on these "tactical necessities". Man, they make you look cool.

Gander Mountain is just pandering to the guys that put their lives on the line to help the ones that prefer not to help themselves. Terrible ad, shame on them.

Then you have guys like this. From a foreign country and packing fully auto. I wonder how he passed his Class 3 background check. Sad day for some military families greiving for dead soldiers killed when they should have been in a safe zone.

rps, I read the articles, albeit quickly. Why no response to my direct response as with the others? :( Was my summary too accurate?
