I have both 1 and 2 piece spinning rods. I don't seem to notice a difference in the feel of either type. I do find that I am less likely to close the trunk or a car door on the 2 piece rods when they are broken down.

I have 1 one piece rod, a 7' Abu Veritas micro guide casting rod, and it happens to be my favorite rod as it casts like a dream and it very sensitive for being a medium heavy rod.   That said, I hardly ever use it because it is a one piece rod and doesn't fit in my car without having the back seat down.  All my other rods are 2 piece.  A 7' BPS Bionic Blade and a 6'10" Shimano Clarus casting rods, and Berkley Amp and Lightning spinning rods both 6'6".  They all fit in my trunk without having to put the seat down and that is my main reason for having two piece rods.

Most of my spinners are two piece. Can't remember the last time I broke one apart. Buy what fits in you vehicle easily.

You theoretically lose a bit of sensitivity with a 2 piece rod, since the ferrule doesn't conduct vibrations as smoothly as the rod itself.  It's a dead spot, which also can make a tiny bit of difference in the way the rod loads and flexes on the cast. Neither thing, in my opinion, is going to a make a noticeable difference in real fishing situations.

The other drawback, and it is certainly one that I have experienced and think is significant, is that the join absolutely will loosen in a hard day of fishing.  I have one two piece casting rod, and was using it for several hours the other day, making a lot of casts, and suddenly noticed I was not getting the distance I had been.  A quick glance told me the join had loosened and the rod guides were no longer lined up.  Of course, a few seconds of adjustment and all was right again.  But, once it loosens, given the construction of modern ferrules, the rod is susceptible to splitting and breaking at the ferrule.  And there's also the chance that the rod actually comes apart and the tip section goes flying off into the water on the cast, with the possibility that the line breaks and you lose the tip section.

Others have mentioned the advantages in stowing and transporting.  That isn't a problem for me with one piece rods because my canoe rods are all short enough to fit, and my fishing vehicles are roomy enough that even my longer boat rods fit in them.  So I mostly avoid two piece rods for the reasons above.

Years ago Charlie Reading turned me on to "Osprey ferrule lube" (also marketed under the name U-40)  and it is by far the best ferrule wax you can get.  Smear a tiny bit on your male ferrule ends and you'll never have loosening or difficulty getting them apart.  Excellent stuff.    The cake of hard perrafin supplied by St.Croix and others is junk in comparison.  I only apply it once/twice per year and it stays put just fine.

I have never really had any issues with the 2 piece rods I have, do they occasionally loosen and turn yeah but like you said AL a few seconds and it's right again.  Have caught buffalo up to 15 pounds or so on my 2 piece outlaw with no issues, and no problems feeling a crappie tap on it either.  Am still mostly a one piece but thought I was missing something, have grandson duty today so may not get hands on to compare just yet.  I will try to find the Osprey Ferrule Lube/U 40.

Well finally made it to BPS with my grandson being all the help you would expect from an easily bored 18 month old.  Ended up buying the one piece St. Croix Premier 6'6" med-light fast act.  The 2 piece was a little heavier and balanced a little dirrerent.  Now for the slight rant.  When I asked about the St. Croix Eyecon I was told they only have it on line, in fact most of their rods are sold on line.  Am I that strange that I am not going to buy a $100 rod that I can't handle first.  Also was pushed toward a higher priced reel which I was not against until I looked closer and saw all the holes in the spool skirt that begged for dirt and grit to get into.  Ended up with another Pfluger President and spool of 8# Nanofil to load it with.  Now just need the chance to give it a try.  Still have to put a balance weight on the butt but that won't take long.

I was shopping for a pair of SC Premier casting rods earlier this Spring and within arms reach were some Triumph's.   Gave one a shake and quickly realized that they were a better rod than the Premier for 30.00 less.  Made in Mexico doesn't bother me one little bit.   I bought 4 of them and like them just fine for bass fishing.
