What color whopper Plopper are you throwing?

I have the Monkey Butt color. A friend gave it to me. I don't think it was by accident that he picked that color. Regardless, they like it.

Anything resembling shad should work. It's generally a fast-moving reaction bait, meaning color is not a key consideration.

I hate to disagree with Champ, but I will. I tend to worry about color with top water baits even more than I worry about colors with other baits (which is too much). I see the WP as a solid body buzzbait. Most of the colors look pretty good.

Champ's advice about getting a shad color is solid. I also think a black one would be handy to have.

My my only concern about the WP is that with so many ppl throwing it that the fish will become conditioned to it pretty soon.

I have been throwing the perch colored one and I know other guys are as well and having some success.  I have the Loon and the Monkey Butt too.

Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.

I agree. I don't think top water makes much of a difference in color. Heck they don't even get a good look at 50% of the bait (top half above water line) so I don't believe it matters much if at all. The only time they get to see what they just attacked is when it is stuck on the side of their face on the way to the boat. At that point it's too late for them to say "Hey this isn't a threadfin shad, it's way to opaque, the chartreuse lateral line is too prevalent and the red gill plate placement is not anatomically correct at all. I can't believe I fell for this........again".

Ham, you are welcome to disagree with me anytime. About anything. The interaction is what makes this place the information mill that it is. None of us know everything, and that goes double for me. I just act like it sometimes. :D
