As long as you keep paying your taxes they can keep making mistakes. If they need some extra cash they will just set up a checkpoint or two. Greasy B and awhuber 2
fishinwrench Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 I guess as long as they save more lives than they end they should still be considered awesome. I'm sure they feel as if they saved 5+ lives by getting Brandon out from behind the wheel.

fishinwrench Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 The defense that it happened because he "wasn't trained properly" is a total crock of BS. All of us with ZERO water Patrol "training or experience" and NOT on the state payroll know better than that. My 7 y/o daughter even knows how to put a PFD on. Piercy was in a hurry to get Ellingson booked and processed so he could get back out there and nab another one. They give incentives/notoriety and Piercy was leading the race in DWI/BWI/Drug arrests. That's why it happened. Greed and the desire to walk around with an inflated ego.
Smalliebigs Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 Great now the taxpayers of Missouri will be on the hook for 9 million dollars because some stupid butt cuffed a kid and put a life jacket on him over his arms????.....that cop was a dumb no doubt. What a joke

That's hilarious. I don't hang out on that lake but my sister and BIL have a boat on the lake and they barely took it out last year due to water conditions. Less people on the water equals less drinking on the water. No its no funny. They took all the patrolmen off the water and put them on the roads. Nixon did that partly from pressure from all the bar owners down here. They were all in a tizzy claiming the patrol was hurting there business. I remember when the bars were to close at dark. Greedy bussiness said "how unfair we are not open all year and deserve the right to make more money" So they gave they longer to stay open and all they did was jack up prices and complain they are getting harressed. I am going to spend more than $200 on bagged concrete to repair my seawall this year. Was the worst damage ever. I have no sympathy for any boaters. 25 years ago people were shooting at boats. With the country where it is now and the attitude plus of every type of Hy powered( including sniper rifles ) rifles being sold anything might happen this year. I can just picture people blowing holes in boats from 3/4 of a mile away. And not making much noise doing so.
Mark Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 There is so much wrong with this whole story from several perspectives. #1) I hate to see any law enforcement person go to jail over something going wrong on the job for making poor judgments. On the other hand, we all know the "give me a gun and badge" egomaniacs. Was this boater drunk and a danger to others, or was the cop looking to bust somebody because he could. Many of you know how it is to have to fear the police because we stopped at the local watering hole after work and had a couple beers. The .08 alcohol standard is a joke rammed down our throats by the religious right. But we can't just let the drunk boat driver off the hook either if he was indeed extremely intoxicated. The MSHP taking over the water patrol was never a good idea. "Follow the money" as Deepthroat would say. Sure, one death on the water is too many. But couldn't just a little law enforcement presence deter many from getting "snot slinging drunk" in a boat or canoe. I apologize to all good public servants of the people in law enforcement, but the job is attractive to the pin-on-a-badge tough guys too. Greasy B and fishinwrench 2
fishinwrench Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 All I know is that I am on the water on this end of the lake nearly every day, and I can't even remember the last time I witnessed anyone that I would consider too drunk to be operating their boat. BWI is not the problem that they try to make everyone believe. More accidents are had by sober people than are had by people over .08% BAC as far as I know. When I travel the lake I'm not worried about drunken boaters, and when I travel the roads I'm not worried about drunk drivers. People around here worry more about huge wakes, and they worry more about deer. But oddly there's no concern by any of the LEO's about those things.....I assume because there's no money in it. Aren't they supposed to be addressing the things that concern us most ? Well, they aren't. And that's my main beef. The things they are always all gung-ho about are NOT the things that are truly bothering any of us. Am I wrong? The MDC and/or the county lawdogs have been up and down our road 30+ times in the last week looking for someone that poached a deer or two. Well guess what? There are 5-8 deer in everybody's yard and nobody around here CARES if a couple extra ones get killed. They NEED to because they are too dang thick around here. I wish they'd let that crap go and go kill a few themselves before it costs me or someone else another 3k in body work. awhuber and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
ness Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 I think I see a B/DWI in somebody's future. Don't disagree about the priorities of the CAs. That's a long-time problem and I have given up hope of ever seeing a change. John
