Haris122 Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Anyone know if they started stocking the trout in the local (St. Louis) lakes today? I called the hotline, but can't get any information from it yet.
Gavin Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Might start tomorrow. Doubt if any were stocked today.

I guess the biologists didn't look at the calendar to realize the 1st was a Sunday. laker67 1
Gavin Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Most will be stocked by the end of the week. Usually how they roll.
Members gwh Posted November 2, 2015 Members Posted November 2, 2015 Several large fish hauling truck came in to Bennett on Friday and parked by the hatchery. Were still there on Sunday afternoon when we left.
Foghorn Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Folks were fishing in Engler Park in Farmington,Mo on Saturday. Wife Susie and I (Jeff Tief) went Sunday after church.Conservation agent checking some folks who were fishing on the North side of the lake. Fish were schooling and finding the school made for constant action. Saw a dozen dead fish-some looked like they may have been there from the initial stocking and some had plastic worms hanging out of their mouth. Had a conversation with a group of people who were fishing nite crawlers and trout power bait. They informed me they weren't trout fishing and the lake has bass, panfish, and catfish in it. The half dozen dead fish floating around their staked out area told a different story. One of the group was the lad who had caught 2 lunkers Saturday and was unaware that trout fishing didn't start until Sunday-strange he had pictures of the fish laying on the bank. After our conversation one couple decided to leave-guess the warm water species weren't biting.
laker67 Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Are you saying that no trout permit is required to fish a stocked area in the urban program?
Foghorn Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Hey Rick, I always thought you needed a trout permit to fish the winter C&R program too. The local paper posted that it is C&R from 11/1/15 -2/1/16 and upon the 2nd date any bait was legal and you had to have a permit to possess and keep fish. Didn't ask the folks about having a trout permit because that power bait they were using wasn't for trout . Anybody have a good answer on the permit. Jeff laker67 1
