Guest Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Ham, I looked at those horse head shaped road runners at BPS tonight. The swivels need to be cut off & upgraded IMO. I've seen Carolina rig swivel that spin better.
176champion Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 You know i been a thinking( and it hurts when i think) that all them there purty lures you all are painting wont catch any fish and since i cant seem to catch any fish maybe you all should send them lures to me to fish with, that way they would feel more at home.......just joking all..very very nice looking lures and well done on the paint jobs.. I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips

I agree that they are not the best swivels in the world, but thru the years ppl have caught hundreds of thousands of fish on them so they must not be so bad that I can't at least try them for a little while. Guest Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 I hate it when a road runner is slow rolled to the boat & it's knuckle balling because the blade is stuck. I've got plenty of time on my hands. So when I find a remedy, I will let y'all know.
fishinwrench Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 The design of a RR is kinda stupid really. The head blocks the water flow that is supposed to turn the blade, and the blade is so close to the body of the jig that it hits it and stops its spin. Nevertheless the dang thing catches fish. Maybe the sporatic uncontrollable nature of the thing is what makes it special. I have had some that catch fish like crazy and others that I was glad to hang up and loose. Bending the line tie forward is something I do to them that I think helps, but who really knows. I also tie on with a loop knot.

Guest Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Road runner on the left is an 1/8oz blakemore. You can see it has a much larger blade yet the swivel looks better. The other one is a Tad's lures road runner. It's got a much smaller blade & appears to be heavier.
fishinwrench Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Tad screwed the pooch. See how the line tie is BEHIND the swievel ? Not good.
