Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 10, 2015 Root Admin Posted December 10, 2015 I've been asked to find a good/best travel spinning rod ideal for traveling, especially on airlines. Any suggestions?
Gavin Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Ship ahead and ship it back. Our buy there and leave it if an option. Take the reels you like. Decent spin rods are cheap enough.
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 http://www.fishusa.com/product/Quantum-QX36-Spinning-Rods This is my favorite spinning set up. I use it for Whites, crappie and trout. Cheap enough that your not out much if it breaks but it works so well for everything. I got a few laying around just for spares. Casts a 1/16 oz jig well and also can throw a #7 countdown without a problem. A couple buddies even bought a few after using mine. And its hard to find a cork handle for under $30.
Ham Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I have an older BPS Extreme Travel Rod that I was pleased with. I feel like St Croix probably offers from travel rods, but I do not know that as fact. There 4 piece fly rods do fine so I feel like St Croix could make an excellent 4 piece spinning rod as well. mjk86 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Can you not bring a 2 pc spinning rod on a plane?
Ham Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 If you have a trip planned, I really think spending a little money and ship the gear ahead of your arrival is better than buying more gear, but that is sort of out of character for me. mic Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 For spin rods, I "love" my St. Croix travel rod and case/roll. http://stcroixrods.com/products/freshwater/triumph Ham 1
