Members fmcbrandon Posted December 23, 2015 Members Posted December 23, 2015 A couple of weeks ago I threw something similar. It was an olive drab head with black underhackle and olive maribou. It caught a couple. One thing you may consider is less thread wrapping. I try and keep mine as short and as close to the head as i can.
Ham Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Yes Sir, It certainly will. I have seen trout get picky about color SOMETIMES, so it doesn't produce that day, try another jig, but give that one another try later. The preferred color varies day to day if not hour to hour. That's a good looking color though and should work most of the time. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Members Teamasgrow Posted December 23, 2015 Author Members Posted December 23, 2015 any guesses as to what the "mystery Marabou" is?
laker67 Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 I can tell you I used one similar," Leonard's hibernator" in this color, to catch my very largest rainbow. Also have caught some large browns on the same fly. Don't even try it on a little one because you want to keep the hook sharp for the big boys. t
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 23, 2015 Root Admin Posted December 23, 2015 Looks good. Fish will like it.

Foghorn Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 Tied a similar jig for the last 40 years and caught a lot of trout. Didn't have the powder paint then so the paint jobs weren't always the best. Now that we fish mainly fly rods,I don't use as many of those jigs. Still will use it on opening day and in higher water and the yellow head was always good for sight fishing. has the look of feathers but not sure which bird.
