nomolites Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 X2 on the Guidewear; bought mine one of the few times when they were on clearance and love them. I wear a full helmet and neoprene gloves when underway in bitter cold and stay quite warm. Mike
Longball22 Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I snagged BPS 100mph bibs on sale in the fall, and was impressed, but I bought the Cabela's Guidewear Xtreme Parka before Christmas, and I'm much more impressed with design and quality than the BPS counterpart. I'll be buying the matching bibs now that they are on sale at Cabela's. FYI, the uninsulated pieces are going for $200 a piece, and the insulated "late season" ones are going for $165 a piece right now. I personally prefer to layer instead of having an insulated shell, but that's a terrific price for the insulated ones if you are interested in going that route. 96 CHAMP and Champ188 2
mjk86 Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I prefer a house with good insulation and a working furnace. Keeps ya dry til the rain quits. jolicious 1
Members cbass12 Posted January 11, 2016 Members Posted January 11, 2016 I have the H20 Xpress Bibs and Rain Jacket from Academy. Very warm and have kept me dry on some extremely wet days. Plus they're only $70 a piece.
Smithvillesteve Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I too have had the Cabela's Guidewear now for about 3 years. I go to Canada for a week in late May and you better have some high quality rain gear!! I have been very satisfied with that choice. Have fished in driving rain and get back to cabin dry to the bone!!
Seth Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Been using Cabela's Guidewear for a few years now and love it! I have the uninsulated version and I just throw on a couple layers of fleece and stay plenty warm. It's kind of like wearing breathable waders in the winter time.
Gavin Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 A good shell on top of multiple base layers is always good. Hat + neck gator is good. Slept in a tent in 10 degree weather Saturday night. Was toasty warm, with a few minor moments of cold while getting layered up or changing wet gloves for dry.
Flippin Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 If I can keep my head warm it makes a big difference. I wear a Cabelas black marine watch cap and it works great. A buddy of mine has a motorcycle helmet with the full face shield he uses when running down the lake in rain and/or cold. I am looking to buy one myself if I can find a cheap used one. I have used several of the Cabelas pants, jackets and boots with Dry Plus and they keep me bone dry when it is raining all day. When I have that on I have no fear of spending all day out in the rain or snow.
