I'll take a few seconds with split ring pliers vs trying to put a point on those old chrome beak hooks with a stone any day- I used to triangle sharpen the bronze VMC types. You can get one deadly sharp, but man is it ever a pain. Hours of work, then you roll a point on a piece of chunk rock. Champ188 1

Really they shouldn't even bother. I prefer my baits to be delivered without hooks, like predator bass baits. That way, I can't complain about the lack of quality control.

Trebles are a breeze to sharpen. Not touch up, sharpen. And not hours per bait, but a good 10-15 minutes. When I did it, I took them off, checked them for burrs, etc., then sharpened and replaced. If you do it for all the warts in the box that need it before a trip you are looking at hours. Not to mention the carpal tunnel irritation. mixermarkb 1
5bites Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Awesome Bo thanks for posting. The depth sounds good but not getting hung up sounds even better. As far as rapalas go I have some self modified risto's that I throw at wart time that are very productive. I can't honestly say it'll out fish a wart but it does get a little deeper and is silent if I don't add a rattle. Also I'm with trophy on the predators. Great knock off bait though the plastic is a touch softer

It makes them scary sharp but the edge gets rolled over too quick. The instructional video that came with it was so corny I can't even describe it. At one point in the video the guy looks at the camera with a straight face and says "Do not attempt to use this if you've been drinking or using drugs!" 5bites, mixermarkb, MOsmallies and 2 others 5 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
