Members HardHead Posted February 9, 2016 Members Posted February 9, 2016 saw this knot a couple weeks ago on lake commandos. Anyone ever use it? It still takes me forever to tie a uni to uni, the bob Foran looks a bit easier. Any feedback is appreciated. dan hufferd 1
fishinwrench Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 For a braid to flouro leader why not just use a loop to loop connection ? I've tested it and it is just as strong as anything else and should come through the guides just fine. No need to cut the braid when replacing leaders, you can even have spare leaders pre-tied. Just use a perfection loop on the braid (with a drop of super glue if you want) and your loop knot of choice on the flouro (also with a drop of glue). BilletHead and marcus 2
snagged in outlet 3 Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Would that work with nano-flouro?
Pepe Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 I have used this knot for years with great success dtrs5kprs and Champ188 2

My big ol' paws and aging eyes just couldn't handle retying a new leader out in the boat after a breakoff. I believe I can manage this. Thanks, Pepe! dtrs5kprs 1
dtrs5kprs Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Good link. I hate tying leaders in the boat too. Uni to uni isn't bad, but that might be easier. All of them bite when it is blowing, wet, and about 35 degrees. Champ188 1
dtrs5kprs Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Also not a fan of running 20# braid to a 6# leader. Asking for trouble. 8# braid to 6# FC seems OK.
Pepe Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Champ, I hope it works as well for you as it has for me. I learned to be a bit careful in cinching and clipping the tags but the knot is smaller than the Uni-Uni and comes through normal size guides allowing a longer leader. I recently tested a new line, "Gliss" . I kept breaking it on hook set in heavy brush with the lighter test lines because it frays like Nanofil does when abraded. But the 40 lb line with FC leader worked very well and has quickly become my favorite line for pitching. I also tried the Stren Superline and liked it. I also discovered that a MH Rod with a Moderate Fast tip works better for me than a heavier & stiffer rod. Not only does it absorb the hook set shock better but seems to help prevent the moment of slack in the line I was getting on a hard set, pulling a fish out of a bush. Champ188 1
