Sore thumbs, in my opinion that's where he made a mistake then. In the Classic you gotta catch the most weight you can everyday. He should of ran "big fish spots" whether or not he heard about Evers. That's like saying I'll only fish certain big fish spots if I need to. That's the wrong mindset.

Pretty sure Christie knows what he is doing. Just got beat by one of those magical days like when Howell did it at Guntersville the 3rd day in 2014. Stars align and stuff beyond your control just happens. Hindsight is always 20/20 and Monday Morning Armchair Quarterbacks always have a passer rating of 158.3.

That's not always the case. I hear interviews all the time where tournament anglers hold on to spots til final day of a tournament. He didn't make any mistakes. He admitted he would be at a disadvantage if the wind blew hard. Too much was made of that guy yelling at Christie. These guys are the best for a reason.  Evers had a bag of a lifetime. Christie wasn't even upset. He said he got his butt kicked. Laughed and moved on.

I agree with ya sore thumbs, but in this particular tournament where 1st is all that matters you can't hold anything back. You gotta swing hard everyday. While Christie ran into a buzzsaw, don't tell me Evers strategy was to fall behind by 6lbs with one day to go and catch 29lb in the end to make up for it. Just an opinion on strategy for the classic that's all. My hat's off to all the guys that even get in it, they'd kick my butt!

I felt bad for that college kid Lo.  Zero for zero both days.

I saw an interview with him before day 1 and he said it was like his 12th tournament he's ever fished. Talk about OVERWHELMING! That is like a kid playing peewee football one year and the next year he is in the Superbowl. Had to a lot to take in on top of the very tough conditions against the worlds top anglers. Doesn't really get any tougher.

Took this pic of Christie on Saturday. You feel the stress as he is trying to figure out what his next move is.

I was in the newspaper business for 35 years and that's one heckuva good shot, Gabe. Captures all the emotion, etc.

KVD didn't have a keeper on day 2. I have been fishing over there a couple times in the last two months preparing for a tournament in late March. I haven't gotten a bite. It is brutal at Grand right now. To catch as much as those guys did is fantastic. Just about the time the lake is ready it's gonna dump a bunch of rain and muddy up the rivers too. Gonna be interesting.
