I think if you're averaging 60+ per day then it's time to up your game and only count the ones 15" and over.   You probably won't need a clicker then.

When i said I stopped counting at 15, I didn't mean I caught 40 more.  I did fish a couple of main lake spots that did not produce, all had wind.  Every thing off the main lake I fished had wind as well to some degree either blowing in or out.  I would say with the spawn so close, the way I caught them will be disappearing fairly rapidly.  Or at least I think it will.  Threw a fluke some when I could, never had a taker, a looker or two, but no take.  I threw 1/2 oz. with larger blades, not huge, but bigger than screaming eagle.

Get a clicker. You don't have to stop counting at 15 or 50 or 200. Might need to make a note if you roll it over 9999.

Are we talking crappie or bass? If bass, you must be doing something right. As I can't count all the bass I catch on one hand in any given day.

great job, and it interesting that there was not a bite to be had on the main lake.  that would be an indication to me that there is a lot of cold water coming down out of beaver, and when that happens, it will most definitely move the fish.

The most bass was 150 in one day, The most fish in a day since I started using the clicker was 218. But remember in my crazy world, that a 8 inch was counts the same as an 8 lb fish. A chub is the same as a legal walleye, etc.

Zig Jigs and Ned Rigs have dramatically increased the number of fish I catch in a year. Huge difference. I also try to fish where and when I can catch them. for example, I don't fish for bluegill in the dead of winter.

I don't just fish one place for one kind of fish though. I try to stay honest with myself and fish for what I want to fish when I want to fish for it and NOT JUST fish for numbers.

Not every time out, but now is the season for big numbers of bass. Give me a cloudy, overcast day, with a breeze, but not a 30mph gale, and I'll give you 100+ smallmouth on Bull Shoals, with the vast majority between 12"-16" and a few genuine 3 pounders, along with a few babies. I can't do it every day, but 20-30 bass from all three species with 10-12 keepers is a pretty safe bet from now into the beginning of June. A clicker is needed this time of year for sure!

Now fishing for 5 really good ones, is another trick altogether, and one I'm still learning.

It's not a game I always want to play either. I've caught BIG bass and I always like when it happens, but I just flat like catching them. I'd much rather have 20 smallies over 14 inches than one largemouth over 20 inches.

I guess my time on the water is a different experience than most have.

Which is why I say "To each his own."  There is a lot more to fishing than just catching the fish, but I'll never say that I don't care if I caught any fish or not. Catching fish is central to my fishing.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.  My previous boss would tell you exactly how many fish he caught whether it was 6 or 124.  I always thought it was funny, I keep a crappie counter so I know how many crappie I have in the live well, everything else is just enjoyment for me. Partly why I almost never have a picture of a fish that isn't about to get filleted, I know whether or not I have had a good day or not.  Some days you actually catch more fish but for some reason didn't enjoy it as much as a day when you had to work a little for them.  Neither is right or wrong.
