Hey Dave- I wonder if the MDC simply spends their limited money on fish that they know will be kept to eat? Maybe they figure that catch and release has caught on enough with bass that those populations will take care of themselves- I don't agree with this line of thought, but looking at what they do stock in the larger lakes, I can see where that might be their logic.

That would make sense if they stocked crappie, cats, etc. It seems like they are really at cross purposes, or are stubbornly working on pet stocking projects. In terms of the financial interests of the lake areas it makes no sense at all.

Why don't they just manage the Spotted Bass to try obtain larger specimens like the one coming out of Berryessa and Bullards Bar in California?

I am so shocked that our resident swimbait expert wants to stock feeder size trout/salmon. I'm all in. They can dump them right off the 13 bridge and let the big river channel K's gobble them up.

The spotted bass in those lakes in California are Alabama Bass "aka Alabama Spotted bass." They are Florida bass of spotted bass. However, they can impact the largemouth and smallmouth bass in a system. This was one of the reason that they stocked Allatoona with largemouth bass back in 2013.

Saw it on the BBC board, but it is an article from somewhere.  Maybe from the GA DFG?

Looks like the study was set to last through 2015, which means it will still be a little while as they plow through the data, and compile it, make the graphs, write a report and get it vetted before release.  I would say if results are released within 6 months of the end of the study then they are moving very quickly.
