Members Hillbilly Bass Posted May 16, 2016 Author Members Posted May 16, 2016 Thanks guys. Good info. I went out yesterday and the bite was good. Caught several 15-18" fish. Shakey head and crankbaits worked. I'd just like to get into the bigger females. With this info maybe I can. It's tough to leave fish that are biting to find bigger fish. nhornback 1
Hammer time Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 You could try fishing with proven big fish baits. A jig and spinnerbait are probably the best two.
Walcrabass Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Hammertime, With that last comment I have to say that you are a man that definitely thinks like I do and has HUGE knowledge for BIG BASS !!!! I might add that the bigger, floppier, and nastier looking JIG and CRAW really seems to bring out the bigguns once the water is warm enough. Like right now through the rest of summer !!!! And don't forget those THUMPIN Spinner Baits !!! Walcrabass
fishinwrench Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 2 pounders will lie to you, but a bass that's pushing 4lbs. won't. When you catch one (and it only takes ONE) sit down, take a break, think. Don't stand back up and resume fishing until you fully realize what just happened and why. All the clues you need to pattern better sized fish have just been dumped in your lap. Take awhile to process every detail of it. It might take 30 minutes or an hour. Now.....Stand up and go kick @ss! Daryk Campbell Sr, JimmyV, Mitch f and 5 others 8

A jig has caught more lunker bass than anything else except maybe a plastic worm. I think spinner baits are pretty far down the list. Lunkers are not really up to chasing thing by here nature though they might. But that only answers with what. It does not answer the where and were sides of the triangle.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I have a bunch of 6 pound plus bass on spinner baits. Of course the lake was private and they eat just about anything.

dprice Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Now I'm I'm serious here Ask your self what they are doing and where they must go to do it then look at you fishn spot and identify the possibilities the concentrate only here all day Or all weekend They are there generally 2-3 days That means they move thru twice ! If I flip my jig on your coffee table all weekend - chances are you will want to try to take it from me ! Try this ! this is the one time of year you can be around one at every stop ! Jerry Rapp Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 jig. 3/8 or 5/16 or 1/2. Brownish, I prefer a green pumpkin twin tail trailer. Back off the bank. Fish it on piles or drops from 10 to 20 feet. Find your spots and all year round you will be well ahead of the bank beaters. Hammer time, dprice and Old plug 3
