Smalliebigs Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 I was just dying to get out so I hit a very marginal creek at best that most people have no idea even has fish or at least it used to.....I haven't fished this creek in almost 10 years. I wasn't sure what to expect but was hoping for the best. I accessed on a slab that has barely any water on either side so most would never think you could catch an 18 inch smallie out of it. Where I accessed is about 2.5 miles up from a river and I hiked almost down to the river. In two hours fishing I caught 24 smallies that were almost all about the same size 13 to 14 inches. I did have one on the hawg trough that flipped off and back into the creek before I could get a pic that was just under 17. I also lost a fish that was definitely 18+ at my feet. The fish were on beds and quite vulnerable but there were also plenty of fish that would nail top water. I also caught tons of 9 to 11 inch Goggles. I was back at work by 3:45 to clear the voice mails. ....not bad, that creek is quite healthy still and is really just a little slice of heaven that not many even think holds fish.....I saw no foot prints or signs of the fisherman sorry about the crappy pics I am not good at getting good ones by myself Matthew83, Daryk Campbell Sr, Dave H and 6 others 9
MOPanfisher Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Awesome. I love those little creeks. Around here I normally find green sunfish, some punkinseds, and maybe a wormy bass or two depending on how long it has been since the water was up. BUT you just never know what will come out of them. I agree with you.....Creeks are just AWESOME. ...on the flip side very fragile though
MOPanfisher Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Sadly most around here will have cattle in them this time of year.
