Little tougher today with the sun. Water temps started at 83, made it to 85. Color is sickly green.

Just required more work to catch them. As in being willing to grind it out. Most of our fish were in less than 20', but did have one 17" black out of 31'. Still need a sharp drop. Yesterday wood was a plus, today it was a necessity.

Ned bite is best early, when they are up on the banks eating shad. Same time some folks are throwing TW. I've about put those stabby critters up. Later, it's a mix of Ned and shakey heads.

Not a clue as to why the tapering gravel bite is off. Has been like this for over a week now.

Short man with his first official baitcaster fish. The bait and the 15# big game should give you an idea of the water color, and drive home that they aren't touchy once you find the right kind of place.

Sweet.  Gravel bite is still pretty strong up the White, but there are for sure fish on the steeper stuff.   It is really hard right now trying to determine a bait.  They will bite everything a little, and nothing a lot.  Timing is a huge factor and sometime early is not the answer, it is being in the right location at the right time.

Fish are really starting to suspend and as Dave mentioned tree tops are not a bad thing.  Seems like that 22' depth is really the deal weather it be bottom or over depth.

Good Luck

Brush Hog....a bait I'm sure he will remember. Did a tear well up in your eye because it was a passage into fishing manhood so to speak with the baitcaster or because he went rogue on papa and didn't want to use the fairy wand and ned anymore???

Good job young man!

this morning found them piled up in that same depth as Bill said waiting to scarf those Lil shad while hiding in deep trees... (which they dont seem to all be created equal) it's taken awhile but can idle through an area and find shad and/or bass difference and then turn around and catch some out of the same tree on drop shot guess I need to add the spoon to that summer pattern but I swear that treble hook on a spoon is always hung on something lol
