fishinwrench
They steer with a rudder I believe. Which could be a bit sketchy in current. I'd want a backup paddle on board for sure. Haris122

Was wondering how do you steer the mirage and prop style kayaks. Do you just kick more with one leg or is there more to it. I’ve read about the difference in reversing between the two types but not sure about steering it. I’m currently leaning towards the mirage style drive since I like kayaking rivers and such, as well as lakes. Yes, like @fishinwrench said... the mirage and prop kayaks I'm familiar with have rudders, with controls somewhere near the seat. The Hobie Outback I used to have had a control lever on one gunwale that raised or lowered the rudder, and the control on the other gunwale controlled turning the rudder left or right.
