One good thing about this trip, Scott has converted some live bait fishermen over to the Ned.

A few more from today. I fished from 10 to 2 until the rain started  and caught few nice fish  on topwater and some Goggles  that were quite large....so many fish my hands hurt and I need a rest

Yeah, rub it in .   Glad your having a great time.

Well I'm  back now from a drunken family vacation  on the Black River. 3 things that I learned and helped me produce some stupid crazy  results. 1) and I can't  stress this enough especially  on rivers, the fish will only be feeding at certain times a day and usually  two time periods a day. If you can figure  out when the dinner bell rings yer golden. In this case it was early morning from dark to about 8:30am and then again from about 6:30 pm to dark...in between you might as well get drunk with everyone  else.

2) In gin clear water, long and accurate  casts were very important. Make a shiot cast and you might as well be pissin in the wind.

3) As much as this pains me the Ned rig can be an effective  tool in the right water.....too fast forget about it and slack water....give me a  brake. In the right flow it was beyond  any I have ever seen. Now I altered  my worm and only cut a very small amount  off of a Zinker as that seemed to cut down on all the dinks. I also was painting  mine with a Black sharpie  to look like a Hellgramite ...this really worked.....I'm honestly  sick of fishing  and need to rest my fingers from too much walking  the dawg and hooks in my hands....just nuts

Matt Hammock has to be related to James?     Used to fish with James down there some.    Have not been to BRL in several years.  Gotta get down soon.  My family went

to BRL from 1968 till some time in the 90's.   Mom and Dad had their honeymoon down there too.. 1950 .. One special place, with some incredible memories for me.

Where I learned to catch smallies, from and old fishing guide down there, in the 70's.

Yes Jim is Matt dad or Matt has a nephew  named James as well. Jim is a relentless  old fart and a good friend.....he has some serious  drive when it comes  to fishing....he's like the energizer bunny he just doesn't stop....I really enjoy his whole family....great  people
