ozark trout fisher Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Derek Mason is a very good defensive coordinator. Doesn't appear to be HC material though. We saw what happens last night when you have two HCs that match this description in one game. Not easy on the eyes. That's my only real concern about Barry Odom, actually. The hope is that he let's Heupel do his thing and gets out of the way as much as possible. As long as he can make himself do that, we should be fine (after some early growing pains.) I am really hopeful about our new offensive system.
ozark trout fisher Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Interesting game against UGA this week....offense looked so much better last week. I know EMU probably isn't any good, but Mizzou didn't look like that against ANYONE last year, including the opener against SEMO and against teams like Arkansas State. Drew Lock looked like a top-5 QB in the SEC. The defense didn't look good, and hasn't at any point yet. Still, I'd urge patience there with the new scheme in place. These guys are having to adjust to a new mentality and it was never going to be seamless. Mizzou doesn't have to beat Georgia, though I think they can if they play to their ceiling and a couple things break right. I do think that Nick Chubb & Co are going to get their yards, and put some points on the board. I don't have much faith in their QB situation...but their young guy Jacob Eason has a ton of talent and you just have to hope this isn't his breakout game. If it isn't, and Mizzou's D-line comes to play for the first time this year, really, this one could easily come down to the fourth quarter. I'm not ready to call the upset, or even a REALLY close game. Still, I think it will be something like 31-20 in Georgia's favor with the game being much tighter than that until the fourth, when I expect the UGA running game to really get going. That would be enough to make me think the team is really, actually better, and week 2 wasn't just a mirage against a weak team. If this game is competitive most of the way through and the offense looks competent or better, I'm gonna assume this team will improve enough to get to 6-7 wins and a bowl game. If it's another 34-0 type situation, well...it's time to bunker down and just be glad we get to play Delaware State next week.
Al Agnew Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Well, it's tough to not be really disappointed in the way Mizzou lost to GA, but on the other hand, it sure is nice to see them more than competitive with the supposed cream of the SEC East. They should have won that game by two touchdowns, but mistakes, turnovers, and poor coaching decisions really cost them. Seems like they have a lot of up side, though. If they can clean up the mistakes both in playing and in coaching, they could be a pretty good team by the end of the year. The offensive line, while they weren't all that effective in the running game, has been a pleasant surprise in pass protection so far; light years better than last year. Harris and the defensive line finally came alive. Looks like they are weakest in the defensive secondary. grizwilson 1

joeD Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Well, I know locker rooms and guys, so , what did they look like? Towels around waist? Young? Fit?

I think they were averaging 5-6 yards per carry. I thought the first half went really well. The second half sucked. But we did much better than the "experts" thought. And better than I thought we would too. As mad as I was all throughout the 4th quarter, I guess to loose by one was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. And it gave me great hope for the rest of the season. grizwilson 1 Chief Grey Bear Living is dangerous to your health Owner Ozark Fishing Expeditions Co-Owner, Chief Executive Product Development Team Jerm Werm Executive Pro Staff Team Agnew Executive Pro Staff Paul Dallas Productions Executive Pro Staff Team Heddon, River Division Chief Primary Consultant Missouri Smallmouth Alliance Executive Vice President Ronnie Moore Outdoors

I believe that's true. After how bad they were last year (even worse than their record suggested) and how boring they were last year, it's going to take some more excitement and success to fill the stadium this year. That's one of the problems Mizzou has had for a long time...they just don't have the fan base that most of the other SEC schools do. It hurts a bit in recruiting, too. For whatever reason, they can't fill the seats with local people and they can't seem to attract enough St. Louis and KC people to make the two plus hour drive to Columbia. And of course, some are saying that the whole campus fiasco last year didn't help matters, either.
ness Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 My Baker Wildcats are looking pretty good this year. John
Smalliebigs Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Wow!!!!.....Olde Mizzou is pretty much what I thought. ....weak as hell. SEC team's just don't loose to Middle Tennessee State at home. Missouri does not belong in this conference as we are just not a top flight D1 school anymore. We are officially the worst in Football and Basketball in this conference. ..what could the alumni and boosters be thinking??? Especially whoever donated 15 million earlier this week. It's cool to be a backer and support your team but you have to call a spade a spade.....Mizzou is in shambles on many levels and it is embarrassing!
Ham Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Good thing they caved into the misguided football players over that BLM. I would hate for them to have sold their souls and still have a crappy football team. keep in mind LSU fired a coach averaging 10 wins a year. What do you think happens if they lose to Middle Tennessee State? LSU fans burn down the coaches house and tar and feather his children while he's on the way back from the game. And the freaking Hogz give up 540 plus yards on the ground to Auburn. What the hell is that? Again, at LSU, that gets you fired, but Bielema is safe as a kitten. LSU fans are crazy. Arky better figure out how to stop the run before LSU shows up. The new coaches DO NOT call the dogs off the way CLM did. If LSU can hang a 50 Burger on them, they will.
