There are a whole lot of reasons why I fish rivers that have little to do with the fish, but that's one very good reason!  We all love smallmouth, but I'm never disappointed when the big fish that hits turns out to be a largemouth.  20 plus inch river largemouth are almost as special a catch as 20 plus inch smallies.

I agree. A 20" largemouth seems to be rarer than a smallmouth of the same length on the Gasconade. I'm sure a lot of that is due to the fact that a lot of the guys I know chase smallies more often than largemouth.

The elbows are bent.
