Old plug Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 I think your were forgetting that it is people killing people not the guns. Our natinal attitude is in shambles. All we got now is devided groups. Race, Religoin and National origion, plus political offialiation. I feel like we are no longer a nation of free thinkers. Almericans today only know what their favorite news channel or outlet tell them. Trouble is it is mostly biased and not for you either. It is a big play by the various news medias to win you over as a viewer or listener. kind of makes everyone look like a bunch of stupd animals to be led around in our thinking and not looking at both sides of any issue. We keep it up and we are going to be killing each other with guns in a civil war. Daryk Campbell Sr and fishinwrench 2
SpoonDog Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Unless there are no private gun sales, everyone gets a background check (including gun shows & private sales), and you're allowed a maximum of three firearms, the idea we have "Swiss style" gun laws is a joke. If you're carrying concealed in Switzerland, you have to provide a detailed explanation of who you're threatened by, "just in case" isn't good enough. Totally different. Pick one one of any number of mass killings in the past decade- there's no shortage. Of course it's not the OK corral, only three died there. thousands die in shooting incidents every year, some having committed no crime. thousands are injured. Surely awoke of the 200000 guns stolen every year come from unsecured firearms from otherwise responsible gun owners. There's a societal cost to gun ownership, to giving any inexperienced person a gun and sending them on their way, it's not all upsides. Everyone else shouldn't also have to pay your training & fees, too.
fishinwrench Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 I don't really understand the importance of gun registration, or even background checks. People die every day and most of them own guns. The guns typically are inherited by the next of kin, and that person will die someday also. So what is it that we are keeping track of? Guns can be inherited, sold or given away freely as gifts. The time, money, and effort wasted to "keep track" of who has guns or is buying a gun could be spent alot wiser. Brian Jones Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Here's a few concerns that I have. 1. This is bound to get challenged in federal court and, given the current political climate of our country, possibly end up in front of the Missouri or possibly United States Supreme Court. What do you think the outcome will be? Will it be upheld or will we lose both our new right to constitutional carry as well as our current conceal carry privilege? It's pretty obvious, based on the high court's decision on marriage, that state laws, election results, etc. mean very little in the current big scheme of things. 2. Once this takes effect, police can now assume- for their own safety- that everyone they pull over is potentially armed. Will this allow freedom for law enforcement to perform unreasonable searches? I am NOT anti-cop. But I am not too naive to think that some law enforcement officers aren't a little over zealous as well and might seize this as an opportunity to exercise their power 3. Though I have not taken the conceal carry class, I have several friends and family members that have. The one thing they have in common is that they ALL learned something about gun laws, gun owners rights, or gun safety, that they didn't know beforehand. I agree that there's no way that you can learn everything possible about carrying a firearm and using it to protect yourself in an 8 hour class. But the classes DO give people that have the right to carry but no training or experience doing so, some education about safe gun shooting and handling that they won't have to acquire after January 1st.
Old plug Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 I believe at the US SUSPREME COURT level it will be upheld. The constitution give is the right to bear Arm. I know somewhere in the preceedance files of the courts it says the founding fathers intent was to form a militia. But just what that can be interpted to mean Is another issue. It seems though people have had the right to bear arms and use them in there defense through out our history. So I see any court that is conviend to rule on this as a constituional issue( Suspreme Court) they would be compelled to rule on the word of the constitution and not some legal preceednce or intention of the law. The law say we have the right to bear arms. Thats it. It would take a constituional ammedment to change that. I do not think you could get 2/3 of the peeople vote to ratify it. If they dos it would make things a awful lot worse.
Old plug Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Wrench the gverment attempts to track weapons and ammo both. That is why you go through all the paperwork. I think those papers must be filed every month. Someone somewhere in the fedeal goverment can TRY find out who owns what from those records. I bet however were ever they are they are so screwed up and full of errors they boarder on useless.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 I've never filled out paperwork to buy ammo. patfish 1
