I seen a interpertation of the word OF that was written in somethng in in the 30s and it went thru every court in the land and back again. Just about until everyone involved in the case died of old age. Last I heard in 94 when I Left it was still a issue being debated. Mitch f 1 John
jdmidwest Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 I am still trying to figure out what a Jasan is. Even my spell checker is showing it as a queer word or something that needs a red outline under it. fishinwrench Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 But how many toy cars did they have ?
ness Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Kindergarten teacher says the question was worded incorrectly. No trick questions for 6th graders. The answer is 8. John
Al Agnew Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Yep, as an English major, I'd say the correct answer is none, since "had" implies they no longer have them. However, I also agree with Ness's kindergarten teacher...they wouldn't put a trick question to a kid that age, so the question is simply incorrectly worded--which is scary in itself because it's very simple grammar that any teacher or textbook writer should never miss. And yes, I agree that "Jasan" is also pretty questionable. Sounds like one of them there Muslim names

The last line counters the word had. So what is stronger. Plus what was the authors intentions. like everything else we as a people can make a mess of everything. NESS I cannot see how he ever got away with that. I would think sex would be defined a lot wider. At least thats what I learned in the Navy.
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 You guys will never get the correct answer front and English teacher. It is a math question. In algebra words are used to show value, or lack thereof. I know this is kindergarten, and algebra is not in their curriculum, just wanted to weigh in with my two cents. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. Old plug Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 I never got much past basic math much less algebra. I agree woth you it os math though. That was the intntions from my educationally limited point of view.
joeD Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Since the gender of the two kids is in question, we must infer that they are, nonetheless, privileged, as they possess toy cars. It is apparent that the "parents " are clueless, since any self respecting caregiver would immediately inform their tykes to donate said toy cars to charity, as carefree playing is tantamount to oppressing those of less means. So, there is no answer, because there is no question. Names associated with numbers are not tolerated. cnr and Mitch f 2
