m&m Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 I put in at Moonshine around 6:45am. I took the advice that ABK gave about the crankbait and had a decent 4 hours of fishing. I caught 12 but only 2 were keepers. One solid SM and a solid LM. SM was just under 3 lbs and the LM was 3 lbs exactly. SM was on a Rock Crawler and the LM was on the Ned. Broke my rod setting the hook on the SM but managed to get it in the boat. Returned the rod to BPS today and replaced it with a Duckett crankin stick. Water was good color 81.4. Both fish were less than 10 feet deep. I would have tried to fish some points but every point had a boat sitting on it. I left at 11 because it was very warm and there wasn't any wind. Gonna try around point 5 tomorrow morning for a couple of hours. Mike merc1997 Bo, Ellros, Champ188 and 10 others 13

Glad to see that crank bite is still holding up from last week a little bit. Gotta weed through dinks to get some solid fish. But hey, fish are fish and the little squirts keep you entertained between good'uns. Should only get better with the temps fading into the 70's with cooler nights and shorter days. Buzzbait/Plopper, Crank, Football Jig......I can dig throwing those 3 all day. big c, 96 CHAMP, magicwormman and 1 other 4

abkeenan Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Nice report. I don't have any Duckett cranking specific rods but I have a 7'3" MH Ghost rod and it is the most versatile rod that I own (out of about a dozen combos). I throw squarebills, medium cranks, spoons (jigging and big flutter style), buzzbaits, wobble heads, jigs, swim jigs, underspins, soft swimbaits, jika rigs and spinnerbaits. That seems silly to have a rod that can be used for so many applications but the rod doesn't feel out of place when using any of those baits. Of the dozen combos I own, none of them can handle the wide spectrum of that Ghost rod. Quality control and components aren't the best but whatever blank they are using is a winner in my book.
