It's probably my favorite beer they have. ness 1 -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson

moguy1973 Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Picked up some of this the other night and it definitely lives up to its name and would be a great all day on the water drinker. ness Posted February 16, 2017 Author Posted February 16, 2017 Alrighty then... I'm too cheap to buy a bottle of Redbreast, and I'm a little gunshy after the butterscotch disaster from a few weeks ago. Blech. So I was at a winery in north Missouri last weekend and they also had a whisky bar. I spied Redbreast back there and asked the price. $10 a shot, the busty young vixen said. Well, I like busty young vixens as much as the next guy, but $10??? Kudos to the proprietor for trying, but busty vixens can't pry open the steel jaws of my wallet anymore. We haggled a bit and agreed on a reduced volume and a reduced price. I'm embarrassed to say what this thimble full of whisky cost, but I knew this was the cheapest way this cheapskate would ever taste the stuff, short of mooching. And most of my friends are at least as tight as me, or worse, so mooching isn't likely. Reminded me of Black Bush -- very smooth and nice. Glad to check the box, but not feeling the need to buy a bottle. That is all. BilletHead 1 John
Johnsfolly Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 Sitting at Bur Oak Brewery for a home brewing competition with brewers making an Altbier. Enjoying a Bur Oak Cameron's Crooked Nose Scotch ale and my betterhalf is having a Creme de la Hops. ness and BilletHead 2
ness Posted February 19, 2017 Author Posted February 19, 2017 Girls nite out last nite. Home alone. Last weekend at a winery north of KC. Good wines, good food, nice folks. Charcuterie platter with locally-made chorizo, prosciutto, summer sausage. Can't remember the name of the beef one up front. Cornichon and pickled onions. BilletHead and Johnsfolly 2 John
Johnsfolly Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 I couldn't upload more than one photo at the event yesterday. Here are the two beers with the Creme de la Hops on the left and the Cameron Crooked Nose scotch ale on the right. We also tried a few of the home brews from the guys brewing the Altbier. The two best were a blueberry Kolsch and a Coffee stout. It was a good time. Still not convinced to invest in all the equipment needed to homebrew. BilletHead and ness 2

ness Posted February 21, 2017 Author Posted February 21, 2017 I gotta poke fun of 360 Vodka for a minute. Visited their distillery in Weston, MO a while back. They bill themselves as eco-friendly. They are going to work with MDC to plant 360 trees on the site. Doesn't MDC give away trees? They quoted a number of tons of CO2 those trees would take out of the atmosphere. But they truck their Vodka in from a distillery in Indiana for bottling in MO. They also claimed their Vodka was gluten free because it's made from corn. I'm no chemist but, according to them, they distill that stuff out to 90% alcohol then add back water to get it to 40%. I doubt any gluten makes it through that process if it's made from wheat You can't return the bottles but the bale cap can be returned. They had a box sitting there for you to drop them in. So, if you drive to Weston and pay the $10 fee for the tour you can recycle the top. That is all. Deadstream and BilletHead 2 John
