cheesemaster Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Well, I don't know what to say..... 7 or 8 shorts in 6 hours. I tried everything that I could do to get more bites but it didn't work. Water temp was 72.4 this morning. Launched at 6:25 this morning and pulled out at 11:45. I had a dark brown weasel or ferret??? literally jump off the bank and try to chase down my buzzbait. He was gaining on it and I had to jerk the buzzbait out of the water and when I did that - he noticed the boat and dove under the water and I never seen him again. That was pretty cool to see!!! I also noticed a couple Bald Eagle which is always exciting to see for me.
Quillback Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Champ has a trained mink that he taught to attack people when they are fishing one of his spots, but it lived up the White river arm (I had a run-in with it once, but fortunately I was able to fire up the big motor and get out of there before it got in the boat). I guess it is possible Champ may have relocated it to the Cape Fair area. Darn fish, you'd think with this cooler water they would be biting like crazy. magicwormman, cheesemaster, abkeenan and 5 others 8
96 CHAMP Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Well I guess they will not bite all the time but I would imagine once that water gets cooler, thinking in the 60s, the bite should pick up for those of us that are struggling a bit. Not sure when I am going to get down, wanting to get to LOZ first and get some whites for the freezer. As for now I got a new transom in the boat & taking it Monday to have motor checked out good before I go anywhere. One issue I have now is a alarm going off when key is turned on, thinking something to do with oil pump or other. Good luck to you all!! cheesemaster 1

Missouri state law allows for one of these trained attack critters for every 10,000 surface acres of water. I currently have three ... one each in the White, James and Kings river arms. *T*, jim m, cheesemaster and 6 others 9

Champ188 Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 They are pretty accommodating of all C&R anglers and anyone who isn't wearing a jersey, although PowerPoles tend to put them on high alert. Quill, is it possible you were wearing your buff and sun gloves when you came across Razor up in the White? He may have mistaken you for wannabe profeshunal. abkeenan, Daryk Campbell Sr, magicwormman and 2 others 5
m&m Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Cheese, everyone has days like that. Some days you just get to enjoy the beauty of what nature serves up. Mike 176champion, cheesemaster, Daryk Campbell Sr and 1 other 4
