Has anyone tried the Daiwa Lexa?  Good reviews on Cabela's, and they're on sale for $80 right now.....

I stuck a post in here somewhere earlier about the Lexa.  Super Dave recommended them to me last spring for Ned fishing.  Picked up one on his advice and ended up buying two more and my brother got two as well after trying mine.  I might get killed for this but I actually prefer them over my Stradics (5 or 6 year old models).  They seem equally smooth on the retrieve but the larger diameter spool seems to do a much better job of eliminating line twist which is one of the features that Dave pointed out at the time.  I also think that they add a few yards to casting distance as well for the same reason.

Again, per his advice, I went with the 3000 series which I would have thought was oversized for the Ned and 6 lb. line but it really does work extremely well.

I also pointed out the sale price as those are cheaper than what I got mine for after doing some considerable shopping around on eBay.

Have not had a Daiwa in years, but they used to have bail spring problems. Pluegers are kind of clunky but they always do the job. Lew's no thanks, 6 trips and then the trash can. Shimano's are nice when they work, but a grain of sand or a splash of river dribble turns one into a useless paperweight.

A bit more pricey, but the last two I purchased were the Stradic  c14+ 3000fa & the quantum pt speed freak sl25  Xptia. Very smooth performing reels & have had no issues with them.

went to get my new spinning reel this weekend, after playing with the final 4 display models i narrowed it down to 2.

it came down to the Mitchell 308 PRO and the Pfleuger President XT.

I ended up choosing the President XT. Both reels are very smooth, but with the XT weighing a little less than the mitchell i decided on it.

Thank you all for your recommendations and opinions

Shimano Nexave 2500FD at Academy on sale for $19.98...regular price $59.98.  There's still a couple left....I bought a few. :D

Dang, that's darn near down there at disposable price. I pay quite a bit more than that for a dozen golf balls.

I've played that ball and, in my opinion, it's the best ball ever made - bar none (well, the aforementioned Condor might be an exception!).  It's dang near a replica of the Pro V1 only for me it's actually a little longer and spins better around the greens.  Unbelievable feel off of woods and irons alike.

Problem is, most of the rest of the world has caught on and they're extremely hard to find right now.  They've been on backorder thru Costco for months and last I heard are still a couple of months out.  There's supposed to be a few stores in the warmer weather states that get a pallet or two in every now and then but they say they're selling them out in a matter or hours.

Guys that can get ahold of them are making a killing off em' on eBay.
