Oak Orchard NY Steelhead Dec 14-17 2016

Some pictures of my trip last week to Albion, NY to fish for steelhead on the Oak Orchard River, a tributary of Lake Ontario, just a few miles away. A longtime friend, who lives in Frederick, MD, invited my wife and me to come out and visit the week of Dec 12th, with the plan of the two of us leaving Wed the 14th and drive 6 hours north to fish, while my lovely wife stayed behind in Frederick to visit and leave separately (I just can't make that awkward sentence work. Anyway....)

These are my first steelhead that I have caught. I was 0 for 2 in Michigan before this. It is truly "combat" fishing, a lot of walking, a lot of cold weather and adverse conditions, a lot of hours of fruitless casting....I LOVE IT!
