Johnsfolly Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Eric82 - I plan on contacting you when I really get looking at the calendar and see when I think I would be able to get down that way. That's the only way I can steal your observe your fishing techniques and favorite spots . Oh and I guess we could ask that JestersHK guy if he's available as well. I seem to recall that he would be willing to caddy our fishing rods. Eric82 and JestersHK 2
JestersHK Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 Ha, I'll mule gear all day long to find a new place and technique lol. I'm torn between putting another deer in the freezer, or fishing. Still gotta make it back down to Phil's since the ice screwed up Taney fest for me... Johnsfolly 1
Johnsfolly Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 I'm in the same predicament except I don't have a deer in the freezer yet this season and I don't have a lot of high percentage options to get one. Still have fishing goals to meet for this year. Oh and then there is Christmas. What to do! JestersHK and trythisonemv 2
ollie Posted January 3, 2017 Author Posted January 3, 2017 Ok, so my neighbor and I took ourselves to the Current and had a great time. We got up super early on Sunday morning and made the drive there. Took 3 hours to get there from the house so I don't know how many trips I would make up there again. The fishing the first day wasn't too bad, but on Monday it stunk! I only managed to bring to hand 2 trout and he managed 5+. Most were browns like the pic, but we also had a couple of bows in the mix. He caught the brown in the pic on a huge jig he tied with a weird color combo of like cream and brown or something like that and he was throwing a 1/8th once head! I will say the Current is a very beautiful stream and I can see why so many people float it. The water was down from what I could tell as well. We started out going to Parker Hollow and working that area on the first day. Very remote it looked like and I'm not sure I would even want to take my Ranger down that road! On Monday we started at the Park and then hit Van Tat next. Not much luck at all with those two so we headed back down to Parkers. What was working the day before sure didn't work on Monday. All in all it was a good trip, but if you know me I hate travelling that distance just to fish for the day. I was glad we got a motel room for the night. Gavin Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Not bad considering how low the water is (78cfs at Montauk, 199cfs at Akers). Don't recall it being this low in January...Not in the last decade anyway. trythisonemv 1
