RPS, Sorry to hear. We have put three trail cams on and around our dock.  Video + Photos. You will need a secure box to put them in.  You would be shocked at how many people get out of their boats onto private docks, fish, open locker boxes up and make themselves at home.  Most don't have a clue that they are being photographed or videoed.  Those that do see the cameras hopefully think twice.  With the latest technology. The photos can be downloaded via wireless internet and sent to your cell phone as soon as they are taken.  Maybe worth considering. Just this last month we have had three boats tie up to our dock, get out and fish and make themselves at home.  Not cool and gives fisherman a bad name. I understand I don't own the water the dock is setting on, but tying up and getting out is not cool (unless it is storming, different story there). Sorry again.

Sucks to hear about your losses.  Even if the marina cannot afford cameras I would ask them to get some of the big signs made up that say "smile you are on camera" or "this property under constant surveillance"  or something similar.  May be enough to scare them off to a different location...

I would agree and add motion sensor lights that go on when someone approaches the docks from either the land or water. Make sure the lights illuminate the signs so just in case the thieves can read, they will have to make a decision of whether to steal from that dock or move on down the lake.

RPS, sorry to hear that you have been victimized.

I do beleve motion sensor lights with I D tag would be a very welcome additon to the thieves. It would not stop them. Put a hood on their head and go down and destroy them all just spite you.Thieves are not stupid. They have a awful big bag tricks and experiences in their favor of also the condition are in their favor. The most shocking steel I ever seen occured at .Holiday landing on Wappappelo many years ago. There was a well lite dock  just down in front of the store. it was full of boats and the yard a number of guys sucking beer and telling BS in the yard. The thieves stole 6 nice bass boat pulled them of the stalls into the lake removed all the moters including 2 or 3 around 150 hp and everything else they wanted and put the boats back where they came from all in a matter of  a hour or so.Also had neighborthat had just toped cigarete boat tanks with about 5oo gals of hi test gas. They took it all with a power syphening system and even waved to his camera wihie they were doing it.

Thing is if there is will you have given them a way. forget.

moral of tge story just make sure you invest in goodolw deductable insurance are get a second job. wehere is a will they will find a way.
