timinmo Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 I guess you can please some of the people some of the time, and some none of the time. As I read the article I thought it said "currently" no facilities. It seems that we complained when they opened Echo Bluff that it went too far. I do not care what they name it, as previously stated that is just politics and it seems we have a Conservation area named for everyone who was ever on the Conservation Commission. In any case as long as DNR is buying from willing sellers and not using condemnation to acquire land. As long as the remediation from the lead mining is not shorted I am all for it.
Old plug Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 there should be a law limiting it to those who have fought the nations battles.not someone who usethe nation and its people. tatis about 99% of all politicians. they could have called it missouri armed forces memorial park or Brian Jones 1
ozark trout fisher Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 That man did more for conservation over the past half-decade+ than anyone I can remember. That is to say, he kept our sometimes almost clinically insane state legislature from gutting the MDC and doing all kinds of fun things that would do plenty to harm our states natural resources and the day to day experiences of hunters and fisherman. So this is fine. I'm also glad that I promptly moved two states over upon the conclusion of his term....and before the inauguration of, let's just say, a governor who is likely to be very different. A coincidence, but a happy one if 1/10th of what I'm expecting comes to pass. Chief Grey Bear, SpoonDog, grizwilson and 1 other 4

Mark Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 The could build a wall around it, claim someone else will pay for it, and call it Trump State Park and then run an oil pipeline through it. Or maybe Gorky Park would be a better name. bfishn, Greasy B and ozark trout fisher 3
jdmidwest Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Don't plan any treks out to the ole Jay Nixon Memorial, looks like it is closed because of some unknown hazards. http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/greitens-administration-closes-jay-nixon-state-park/article_1d353f97-8515-5885-9fb3-a1589a413c55.html "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. fishinwrench Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 "It ain't even fit to hike". Funny stuff there. Somebody wants to sell or barter that property someday, and they know it'll be harder to quickly unload if it gets named after some political figure. That's my guess.
SpoonDog Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 This is exactly why an independent conservation department is so important.
jdmidwest Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 How can any piece of ground be unfit to hike? "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
