There is a time and place for all applications. It's up to us to figure it out. I prefer a jig myself but last fall on Grand they were suspended under docks. My buddy was throwing a Spinnerbait and I was using a drop shot. He would sometimes miss a fish and I would follow up with a DS and catch them almost every time. It was a blast.

I tie up a number of harnesses with a swivel on one end and the hook with palomar knot down about 18". I leave the tag end about 12" for the weight. I wrap several of them on a chunk of float noodle and I'm good to go.

I try to save time on the water for fishing not tying up a rig.... these old fingers are a bit feeble.

That method works.

I like the swivel drop shot hooks that VMC makes, unfortunatley gamakatsu decided to get cute & use that stupid swivel from their drop shot weights

I use one of these (meant for spinner rigs and the like) and keep about a half dozen drop shot rigs tied up.  Just have to tie to the swivel and hang a sinker, and I'm off to the races:

The line memory is a little annoying if they've been on there a while, so I keep a fly fishing leader straightener close by to eliminate the coils.

At night after I've screwed up all of my rigs, I enjoy a cold beverage (or 6) while refill the keeper. :)

Thanks guys for your input, it is something I wanted to play with. I use a shakey head a lot and have a lot of success and a lot of confidence in it. I am always looking for new ways to catch fish. I love to learn how other people are catching them. I have started a group on Facebook called Bass Fishing Techniques Forum for anglers across the country to chat about how they catch fish. Fell free to join if you do Facebook. Thanks again guys.
