It was my pleasure to fish with Richard Button (friend of Billethead) on upper Taney today. I touched base with Phil and DD to get a feel for what my best options were. I had brought 2 Air Stream rods and my 4 weight fly rod. Both were thought to be workable options today.

I had some issues with my USCOE Little Rock District app today. I wasn't getting some of the data properly. I'll have to watch this going forward.

pretty chilly day. High around 40, wind 5-10 mph, mostly cloudy all day. I dressed appropriately, but it would not have hurt my feelings had it been warmer. Hand warming chem packs helped.

This was my fourth trip ever to Taneycomo. I'm obviously still learning the differences between Taney and my version of the White River. And believe me, they fish differently. I did decide to use 4 lb leader material today instead of my usual 6 lb.

I started across from Phil's on a current swept bluff bank. That would hold lots of fish on the White. We scratched out a handful of fish, but it was too slow. Ran up to another bluff above Fall Creek. I have caught fish there before, but zeroed there today.

I quit being stubborn and ran up to the cable. Boom. Fish on, fish on, fish on, etc We repeated various drifts in that area the rest of the day. My stated goal was 25 fish. Got there. Then 30. Then 40. Then, I wanted a 50 burger. I lost 6 fish in a row after catching my 49 th fish. Started gripping the stick too hard, but finally caught another fish. So got that done.

I was untangling a fubar when Richard asked me "you know it's getting dark right?" ME: "ehhh No".  So I begged for a few more casts and we finished with a double. Finished with 51 for the day. I had lots of other chances, but I was often (but not always) slinging barbless.

Richard had a very good day as well. He caught more fish on a fly to than I did and he caught plenty on a jig too. We both caught plus rainbows (17-19 inches). I had one real nice  Brown trout. He wasn't super long, but he was a tank and pulled his butt off. Made my arm cramp before I got him in.

Made the long cold run back to Cooper Creek public ramp. Said my Goob Byes and started my 2 hour run home.somnow I'm post supper, post Hot shower ;  I'm sure I'm warm up eventually.

Great report Ham and thanks for taking care of my buddy!   I will check on him today and see if he got thawed out and get more of the story. I am looking forward to getting a trip in with you. Got other things out of my system first. It will end soon and I think one more hunt and we are done. Got my boat serviced and jet motor raised another notch. Need to see how it preforms with this change,
