It is a pretty meaty tomato and fairly sweet. Went well with balsamic and mozzarella. John, That looks a lot like the big rainbow variety we planted! We just finished the big basket of tomatoes we brought with us. Guess we will see what the garden looks like when we return Sunday. Lancer09 Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 In the last two weeks my garden has gone crazy setting actual fruits. Particularly the tomatoes. I have yet to get a full size tomato from the garden and only a few cherry tomatoes.. that's with 12 tomato plants. the 2 week surge in growth is directly correlated with me purchasing a new air gun and clearing out 20 squirrels from the back yard in those two weeks. Birds are a lot happier on the feeders now too. I'll keep and eat a few when it cool;s off. Righ tnow they are just pests and half of them are getting popped as I step out to head to work. grizwilson Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Dang deer have attacked mine, the only thing safe are the Jalapenos they do not eat. The bell peppers they leave the peppers alone but eat the leaves, the tomatoes they eat the top of the plants and blooms off and I have quit getting any ripe ones, eat the sides out of cukes. They have to walk thru 6 ac of clover and johnson grass to get to it....... I give up. “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
Johnsfolly Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 We planted cukes late and are still getting some small ones. Peppers still producing a couple at a time. Most everything else is dying back or done producing.
tho1mas Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 I think my tomatoes went on vacation with the BillitHeads. I haven't picked but one in the last ten days. Perhaps they were getting ready for the eclipse. Time now to plant Fall stuff. BilletHead 1

I had pulled most of the plants before we went due to yellow leaf junk and lack of hanging fruit. The ones we left did produce and our pickers seemed happy. yellow squash plants still working some but little of that. May pull them soon. Finally getting a few peppers but not happy with this years results. I am with tho1mas it is time to get fall Lettice in. Like in yesterday it should of been in, BilletHead tho1mas and Johnsfolly 2 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" snagged in outlet 3 Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 We had this wild redbud pop up in my wife's flower garden. I put a treluce over it and keep trimming it back to the shape of the it. The thing loves it.

What about broccoli? Has anyone tried broccoli rabe (Rapini?)? tho1mas 1

BilletHead Posted August 26, 2017 Author Posted August 26, 2017 Finally last week got the fall Lettice crop planted. Still a few squash coming on but tiring of messing with the plants. May do another bed of lettuce after yanking those plants out, BilletHead "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!"
