m&m Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Patlock and I managed to fish (or should I say cast) for 3 hours in the morning. WT was 48.6 to 50.2. Pat managed to catch 2 nice SM on the ned in <20 fow. I on the other hand managed to make a lot of casts. Finally I cast a shakey head next to the back corner of a dock in about 12 fow and promptly got a birds nest. After I managed to get the line right and as I was tightening up the slack I noticed my line was about 20 yards from the dock. I set the hook and a beautiful LM that looked to be around 3 lbs was on the other end. The fish came up to the top and decided to see if my trolling motor blade can cut my line. The dang fish was right! Snap went the line and the fish swam away to enjoy the day. Oh well I continued to cast for another half hour and decided to fight the wind on the ride back to the ramp. All in all saw a lot of boats mostly moving. A beautiful day to enjoy the water for sure. Mike dtrs5kprs, Dewayne French, crazy4fishin and 6 others 9
176champion Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Thanks for the report M&M, kind of sounds like one of my outings...lol I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
big c Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Got down here around 3p yesterday, 2-11. Spent about 2 hrs just fishing close to the Indian Point marina area. I was flippin a jig in empty boat stalls and fished mainly docks. Three short large mouths and one keeper smally. All bites were in the front portion of the empty stalls. Initially started using 15 lb floro and 1/2 oz jig. Nothing on that so i picked up a 3/8 pbj w/10 lb floro started getting bit, same set of docks. I also fished my beloved biffle head w/watermelon red flake rage craw. Something about took the rod out of my hand, caught me looking at nature, no other strikes on it. That was on a point in about 15 ft of water headed back to the dock, verry little wind around 5p. Glad to be back in God's country, take care and tight lines. Donna G, cheesemaster and magicwormman 3
Bill Babler Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Thank you guys, Very nice reports. Mike have you rubbed against me lately? Sounds like some of my luck may have rubbed off on you. I thought I was the only one that got fish cut off, birds nest and any other malfartion that can possibly happen. Good luck next time and glad you all got to be on the water. Bass Enforcer Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 I guess if we can learn anything from your misfortunes Mike, it would be its very difficult for many of us to let our baits, "just soak sometimes." Things like back lashes, phones ring, tying something else on, etc have often gotten me side tracked and then all of the sudden when im back to fishing, I learn I had one on. It's just so difficult for me to stand there idle some times. I just have to know they are there. Champ188 1
96 CHAMP Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 I think that is why we keep going back Mike, the unknowns & what ifs, should I or not. It's amazing how we feel when we just can't get that green guy in the boat to touch him then let him go. Great story & good luck!! Champ188, Donna G and Quillback 3

Pretty much exact duplicate report from me also . Found fish in docks. Also had two keeps on the jerkbait . About 15 fish between two of us on the stick bait. Never graphed any bait in the Dam area. Maybe a few little schools in front of a few deeps docks. Seems tough everywhere I put in right now . Donna G 1
