abkeenan Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Boat needed a new tilt/trim motor so came down Saturday morning to take care of that along with brother, father and a couple of uncles from Bull Shoals that are mechanically inclined, unlike myself. Didn't beat the rain, sleet and snow to Blue Eye by much. Boat didn't get out of the garage and into the water until Sunday at noon. Fished from 12-5 yesterday all within a rifle shot of 86 Park. Had 10 to the boat, half were keepers for about 11 or 12lbs. Had 4 or 5 others pull off or spit it at surface. All came on the jerker and seduced all 3 species (couldn't get the Quill meanmouth special for the TR Slam). Hit main lake points and they were coming to get it from as deep as 10-15 feet down. Best was a 3lb LM and I saw him/her torpedo out of deep boulders and flash on the blue bandit. Called my shot to my brother before the pole started bending. Fun bite yesterday. Was windy and gusty at times but overall was pretty comfortable (new Frabill bibs helped). Pretty decent outing on short notice and a short leash. Water temps ranged from 51 to 52.7. Water clarity I would guess is around 10-12 feet. Some "rock snot" in the area which made it pretty easy to put up the Wart. Probably only saw 10 boats in those 5 hours which made it that much more enjoyable to be out. Will be back down in April for the BBT derby. Good fishin' ahead! magicwormman, Quillback, SupremeJCK and 11 others 14
abkeenan Posted March 13, 2017 Author Posted March 13, 2017 Did also throw a Ned Rig some from the bank Saturday after the snow stopped and right before sundown. Tried to catch Quill Magic in a bottle but only managed one 12" kentucky in about 75 yards of shoreline and 30 minutes worth of casting. Did catch some of natures magic though: Donna G, dnj21, shark bait and 6 others 9
Bill Babler Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Nice fish, beat the living daylights out of me. But again, that not saying much. That had to be just a really fun great day. Hope we will have another great day this week as Mizzou fans. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

I love just working a JB through cedars or just above them. Had my line jump with some slack in it and when I tried to lean into them I got nothing but air/water. Might have been a biggun' suck it in and spit it out before dummy me could get a hook in her or even knew what had happened. As far as our Mizzou, Sterk said he has narrowed down the coaching search down to 10-12 candidates. Hoping to hire someone before the final four starts. Tom Crean from Indiana is creating some noise but we shall see. Would love to get Buzz Williams from Virginia Tech. On the bright side only one way to go from here.....and that's UP!
Quillback Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Glad to see ya'll go into some. I would love to catch some on the jerk bait before the water gets warm, but just can't seem to get them on it so far this year.

Man, if they do worse than 8-24 and 2-16 in conference play, I don't think I want to be alive to see that. But thanks for the uplifting spirits, Dave. Hope you never come across someone standing on the 13 Bridge when you do decide to venture under it. No way are you gonna be able to talk them down. Come on now! Babler has said in the past you get one crack at them so you had better put that bait where it needs to be. Pretty true yesterday. A lot of those fish came on pretty exact casts. Caught a few in some pretty hairy spots. Definitely needed my handy dandy lure retriever a few times yesterday. Booger'd up a few good spots too where the wind took the bait and/or line into the cedars on the cast and had to go get it.....ABOVE WATER. Quillback 1
m&m Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 ABK, nice outing and healthy looking fish. Good luck in the bbt. Did you leave the boat in the slip? Some good fishing underneath it in the coming weeks. Mike Quillback 1
