So I want myself, my lifetime fishing partner and others who may come aboard to be as safe and pampered as possible. Thus my decision to ride a Ranger Z119. I fish in pure comfort, as do my guests. With a 225 Opti and a tournament load, it runs 68-70 on GPS and I've yet to see a tin boat that can keep up on the rare occasions that I blow the carbon out of it. Not saying it's impossible, but it hasn't happened yet. Might run 1-2 mph slower coming back to the weigh-in with both livewells full of water and fish. Just scan youtube Champ. those fast tin boats are out there there is a video above that I'm sure those glass guys that he was passing would love to take back TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
Champ188 Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 There's always someone faster. But again, until they start handing out boat-racing trophies, what counts is what's in the bag at weigh-in.
Ketchup Posted March 17, 2017 Author Posted March 17, 2017 True. The debate of Tin vs Glass has heated up over the last few years, and even moreso now that aluminum boat makers are producing boats that can and do handle 250 HP motors quiet well. As i have stated several times, i've owned a few nice glass rigs, and nothing against them, but there are advantages of an aluminum bass boat, and one of those is getting more speed from an aluminum boat with the same motor as you would have on a glass rig, due to weight. Do you suffer handling, i dont think so. Maybe the only disadvantage i see with aluminum is the wind factor due to how light they are, but its more than made up in all the other qualities. My next step up, and knowing me, you can ask those here that know me, probably sooner than later, will be the boat that started this thread, the Xpress X21 with the Yam 250. That stable platform and the layout has my brain convinced thats what i need. Maybe that flashed to a 300? Who knows but its a very nice boat. We as tin guys arent doing this for the savings on the initial costs anymore, as they are now at glass boat prices. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.

abkeenan Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 Since this is BBC week on OAF figured I'd post some pics from a guy in Louisianna who was trying to upstart a high end tin bass rig company. Not going to lie it looks incredible to me. No idea on the tech specs, weight, fishability, etc.....but man it looks sharp. Never did hear what became of it or if he got investors because the thread over there died out. Been about 4 years since initial post over there. Intriguing boat. Champ188 1
