Ok.  Mrs Billethead went hunting on her won yesterday morning (Mr out of town).  I went back to the spot where we had gone last week. Sat a few minutes and heard three birds gobbling back in the woods.  Just sit there and soon a hen flew out, then a couple other ones, and soon tommy!  I shot one time and boom he hit the ground.  I walked over to take a picture with my phone so that I could send it to Mr and then sat a cried.  I had done it!  I proceeded to carry that heavy bird back to the house, called it in, strung it up, and proceeded to clean (butcher) it.  I admire you guys that clean turkeys...it is not easy!  Had 10 inch beard, just over 1 inch spurs, and weighed 18 pounds.  I re-weighed him because I did no have my glasses on the first time!.  Have a great day!!

This post is great in so many ways. It's so fun to read about the excitement you experienced at your accomplishment.

Everybody who's fished or hunted remembers moments that were firsts, or where things just clicked and something special happened. There's one of yours.

You've got me thinking about those times I remember, especially the ones with my dad, brother and kids.

Congrats Mrs. BH!  That's a mighty fine bird.  Now think of all the money on guide fee's you'll be saving! :P

Jesters she will be paying dearly :) . Believe me!

I have been out this morning. No rain but sunshine. Forty degrees. Things are so wet though I am soaked to the bone, cold and Arthritis is beginning to settle in my knees and they ache. Someone is going to pay.  Clothes in the dryer and a cup of hot coffee I may go back out and set in a blind?

You best just stay in and take care of the laundry. Let her go out and provide the food.
