933.5 is awfully close to the motors on the flood gates is it not?

Like a good boat wake away?

Wow. I'm fighting the morbid curiosity hard, knowing that so many folks like Phil and my best friend's Dad are suffering with the floods, but this is still amazing.

BRANSON, Mo. – The Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District will increase spillway releases at 11 a.m. today at Table Rock Dam.

This morning 12 spillway gates will be opened to 1.5 feet releasing 20,000 cubic feet per second in addition to the 10,000 c.f.s. being released through the turbine generators.  The total release will be 30,000 c.f.s.

The lake is expected to crest tomorrow around elevation 933 to 933.5 feet above sea level.  Hourly inflows into the lake have been between 250,000 and 300,00 c.f.s. since midnight.

Daily lake information can be obtained at www.swl-wc.usace.army.mil or the Corps’ mobile App which can be found in mobile App stores by searching for USACE Little Rock.

Anyone else old enough to remember when they let it come up with this rain in the forecast?

It's a mess out there thats for sure...train tracks wiped out some roads are wiped out, was just looking at some pics of around shell knob and it dont look good...it's going to take months for stuff to get back to normal.

I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything!

Has it been higher than 933?

It was higher than 933 in April 2011. High was 936 and change. Think it hit 935 ish in 2008. The winter flood was odd in 2015, but not the highest.

Still trying to reconcile why after a 7' jump, and a literally disastrous forecast, they didn't move some water through. Imagine they would like to have any amount less now.

We were down this weekend to flood proof our shed and decided to leave Saturday morning based on the current level and forecast rain. Good decision, if we had waited until today we wouldn't be able to get out of Shell Knob!!  As it was we had to take 86 toKC and on to Springfield adding an hour to our drive..............now even 86 is closed.  Not a good deal for people on the lake!  And a hole lot worst for people below the dam.  Be saying a few prayers for them!

I'm confused. I thought Phil said they lose the motors that control the gates around 934- did they not have control over the gates for a while in 2011?

And I'm wondering why they didn't go to 49-50cfs earlier this morning. I know they have a Book, and I get not going more than 20cfs last night, you don't want to flood more people in the middle of the night, but it just seems weird to wait, knowing what the inflow is doing.

We're supposed to have our annual tourney next weekend, but with the current levels I'm guessing its going to be postponed.

How long will it take them to draw down the lake to safe levels?

Prayers for all affected.

You would think that they would learn based on past experience.  I know it is easy for us arm chair experts to second guess, but dang this one sure didn't sneak up on us.
