I still have them on my Catfish poles. As strange as it may sound I ha emore casting trouble with the new reels. Justhard to adpt when you get old. Mofloatjunkie 1
MOPanfisher Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 I still have my first baitcasters also. An old Ambassador 6000 that my uncle gave me, along with a Shakespeare wonder rod. Determined to learn to cast it, spent a lot of evenings in the yard, casting and picking out back lashes befor I figured it out, or rather my thumb figured it out. That old 6000 and wonder rod was a beast, I have caught bass, catfish on it and snagged many suckers and carp on it. When I made a foray into modern bait casters that ended with 3 Shimano Curados lest handers it seemed like it was easy to cast. Don't use them much any more though, prefer spinning reels most of the time but I will.still keep hem around. Somewhere I also still have dad's old Diana black gold BG13 reel that was his pride and joy, bulletproof and the only spinning reel that survived the old days.
WeekendWarrior Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 Dad was over at house and going through his tackle box got all of his old wiggle warts and this guy

Old plug Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 One of the first big bass killer spinner baits ws the Hell Diver. I got one around here somewhere. I have never seen another single spin up with a larger blade on it.

The fuss is more of a Hawaiian wiggler type bait. I have several of both stored away. I remember using them both, but never caught anything on them. But that was back in the day, 1960's where a topwater bait had to sit until the ripples went away, then a plunk or jerk or two, and then let the ripples die away again. WeekendWarrior 1

Quillback Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 Dug out some of my old lures. Top left is a Bomber Long-A (I think), top right is a Heddon Cousin II. The Cousin II was supposedly made snagless by the wire loop at the nose. Got both of these lures when I was in high school in the early 70's. Middle row - A Heddon Lucky 13 and a frog popper type bait I can't identify. Both were owned by my grandpa. He probably bought them sometime in the 60's. Bottom is a plastic mouse, similar to todays frogs. It's another high school lure, so it's at least 40 years old.
top_dollar Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 Does the heddon cousin float or sink? Its shaped quite a bit like the stutter step lure.
