Champ188 Posted July 13, 2017 Author Posted July 13, 2017 Yeah, they have definitely jacked up the Comanche stripes to make them look more like Nitro. Keep it up, Johnny. You're right on track. With his ego, can't be long until he totally disrespects Forrest and puts his own name on them. skeeter, Flysmallie and magicwormman 3
techo Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 I will stick with my little Skeeter and 90 horse. I only cry a little bit when get a dock ding! dtrs5kprs and Champ188 2 Tim Carpenter
Browning Guy Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Spoke with a Ranger Rep at the last Spg boat show. Asked if he knew of the perception that Ranger would cheapen up the boats, quality go down and the Ranger name lose its mojo after Johnny took over. He said "absolutely we know that people are thinking this may happen". According to him there was absolutely no plans to reduce quality and cheapen up the boats. I asked the wrong question. Shoulda asked him if there was any way I could buy a $100,000 boat from Ranger. I used to love the whole Ranger story, quality and family, but the beginning of the end of Ranger story seems to have started. I hope not, but everything Mr. Morris touches seems to get cheapen up in quality while prices stay the same or go up. He does have a 3-4 billion dollar take over coming up and will have to pay for it some how. magicwormman, dtrs5kprs, Daryk Campbell Sr and 1 other 4
Champ188 Posted July 13, 2017 Author Posted July 13, 2017 You know BC, I've been friends for 35 years with a Ranger rep and, of course, he said the exact same thing. There was even a video circulating at one time where Johnny was speaking at the first national dealer meeting after the takeover and saying, "I don't want to be known as the guy who screwed up Ranger Boats." But as we all know, the only thing that stays the same in this world is that everything changes. Forrest Wood was/is a shrewd businessman who made a fortune by emphasizing quality. Rangers have never been the fastest and never claimed to be. But they HAVE always claimed to be among the safest, longest-lasting and best-riding rigs around, and even those who dislike them have to admit they've backed up those claims tenfold. We will see what the future holds, but I have to say I'm glad that my latest Ranger (2013 model) still has the 45th anniversary cowboy hat and Forrest L. Wood signature emblems on it. vernon, big c, tho1mas and 4 others 7

Money is relative. If you make $1 million a year and spend $100,000 of it on a boat, then you've spent 10% of your annual income. If you make $100,000 a year and spend $10,000 on a boat, you've still spent 10% of your annual income. Even so, I doubt any of us thought 20 years ago we'd ever see a $100,000 bass boat. grizwilson, Quillback, techo and 8 others 11

I sincerely hope that I can still buy a new 521C for less than $70,000 when I retire in a year or so. If not, I will have to keep what I have to fish out of or look elsewhere. It will hurt a lot, but I'm not willing to jeopardize the kids college funds for a 521C. Been my dream rig for 5 years now, oh well. I'm confident Mr. Wood is reading my post here, PLEASE start building boats again and make them with affordable quality. magicwormman and Daryk Campbell Sr 2

How many million a year fisherman are there, betting not to many percentage wise. I am talking average fisherman that makes $100-200K or less, which is probably the majority, just crazy! Would love to have a new Ranger or for that matter any of the major brands and I fish more than the average fisherman and there is no way to justify spending that much on a boat. Maybe there are just more millionaires out there that fish than I think there are 😄. magicwormman 1
Members Brandon Cowherd Posted July 13, 2017 Members Posted July 13, 2017 with the ability finance a boat over 20 years, $100k boats are much more attainable for just about any income level. There is no way i would. but it is a option. Champ188 1
