There's already too many out there enjoying it....or in this case, trying to. If they wanna promote it on their own dime, that's cool. If they wanna promote it on OURS then I'd like to see them go a little further than the feel-good part and promote not littering, and not being a jerk, and not throwing fish in a parking lot to bake in the sun, while doing it. That's all. Who else besides MDC uses our money to promote in that fashion? Lemme know, Chief and I'll point in THAT direction too. I like this whole "Its our money, we can do with it what we want" mentality you have going. I mean, you need some new wheels, just hop right on down to the MDC office and pick you out one of them fancy trucks the drive around in. Heck, like you keep harping, it's not theirs, it's yours! Let me know how that works out for you. Better yet, go down to the cop shop and pick up one of those! Boy we could have a ton of fun in a fast cop car! It doesn't belong to them, that was your money! Pick me up a fire truck while you're at it! I've always wanted one! Now again how much did you contribute to building and repairing all of those roads you drive on? fishinwrench Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Funny that you asked, as just today I spent 3.5 hours removing a busted utility pole and 200ft. of 300 pair phone line from the road, and after the last big rain my neighbor and I spent a day and part of another one repairing a culvert and 80yards of heavily rutted county road so that Special 8 road district could tend to more important things. Wanna know who cleaned up the Gravi access after kids fishing day and paid to dispose of the 5 full bags of trash 3 days afterwards when it was obvious that nobody else was gonna do it? A crew came back and removed their tent things the next day....but left the trash. Deadstream and awhuber 2
joeD Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 "A van pulls up and 5 teenage boys get out ." Two or three would have been more believable. But not in a van. Teenagers don't drive vans. Their moms do. To soccer practice.
Deadstream Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Just got back from the not so secret fishing hole, A great beaver pond that holds some Monster Brookies late in the year. They responded well to spider flies/poppers. Anyway, I also ran across a handful of young "adults" that had trashed the area. They told this old man to mind my own business and f.off. I am not a cop caller but I will call the DNR. I did, local guy was in the area, He responded and 4 out of 7 had wants and warrants. This is way!!!! out in the boonies, just lucky he was near. The other 3 cleaned up the mess and promised me payback. I have a ccw permit from Missouri that allows me to carry in Michigan, I didn't need it this time but kids are getting crazy anymore. Sad we can't park our trucks and fish anymore, and that some of these kids were son's of friends. BilletHead 1

The boys call it the shaggin wagon and the girls call it the golden toaster. Poor kid will never get any driving that thing. I actually dog him about it too. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
Bushbeater Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 This rude and aggressive behavior by a small percentage is ruining the outdoor experience for everyone. Look at all the traditional river accesses and campgrounds that have closed in recent years, supposedly because of lack of funds, but usually because they can't be adequately patrolled to prevent these incidents. I really don't like the notion I need to carry just tohttps://www.bassmaster.com/news/18-year-old-dylan-poche-murdered-louisiana-boat-ramp-0 fish an out of the way access or camp and hike in wilderness areas but it seems to be the new way.https://www.bassmaster.com/news/bassmaster-opens-angler-shot-death-mississippi-motel

To soccer practice. not if they were desperate for wheels . me and my buddys packed in my ma's falcon a time or three to go fishing back in the day . the job market around here is so tight and the pay so low that very few teens can buy cars , twenty somethings with jobs don't fare much better . most are lucky to get their parents old clunker when the parents upgrade . there are plenty of my kid's friends driving vans these days . after all the the soccer mom's van was likely in better shape than dad's work truck . what a long strange trip it's been , put a dip in your hip, a glide in your stride and come on to the mother ship , the learning never ends

The overhead lines were old dead copper pairs that were replaced with underground fiber and never taken out. I don't pay for a ATT land line....so no bill from them. Maybe I should send THEM one.😉 You asked what contribution I had made, and you asked in a way that insinuated that I do nothing but sit back and complain, so I was just pointing out that me and my family contribute plenty (way more than most). lee G., awhuber and Norm M 3
