Cumberland and Punisher make pretty nice ones.  I just wish pork frogs hadn't been discontinued, always were my favorite hair jig trailer.

I've actually looked at some but they can get a little pricey, though I understand why

Yep. Just like most discontinued baits that have any sort of following.

If not mistaken, Zig jigs don't have weed guards. I love marabou too but they just don't last as long as bucktail

Brown and orange is my fav, colder water for sure, black and pale blue would come in second for me

All my jig are budktail except for a 1oz rubber skirtd one  jig I have used to bang the bottom.  To me the thing like about deer hair jigs is I can customize their sink rate. leavng the hair real long males a trailor effct.  Do not really think though that the fish cares if it is hwir, pastic skirted or a grub. It is a personal  preference.

I seen a guy down at capefair about a month ago catching them about every cast on a white 1/4 oz hair jig
