Carl W Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 I am very slowly shopping for a new / used boat. I currently have a single axle boat and the more I look the more I think I want one that will be a two axle boat. So my question is how does a person move one in their garage and if the answer is NO then do you back it all the way into your garage? I currently keep my boat in my garage and plan to do the same. I do not have a large garage or a wide driveway so am curious how others do this. Carl
Members kvo113 Posted July 29, 2017 Members Posted July 29, 2017 Back it in or you can get a hand jack for the rest of th way / moving around in garage
Quillback Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 I back it into the garage, lower the motor, unhook the trailer and push it in the last couple of feet. They'll push OK on a straight line, it's making turns that is tough. Bass Yakker, dtrs5kprs, Carl W and 1 other 4
Champ188 Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 With my 2013 tandem RangerTrail, I can run the tongue jack close to the top and then push the trailer tongue right or left as far as I want. Carl W and Quillback 2
dblades Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 I've lived two places that the eight foot doors were a bear to get the tandem lined up with, including where I currently store the boat. I usually back it in a little then push the rest of the way. Takes some getting used to BUT the tandem makes losing a tire a less traumatic experience, had that happen twice also. dtrs5kprs, Quillback and Carl W 3
dtrs5kprs Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Just now, Quillback said: I back it into the garage, lower the motor, unhook the trailer and push it in the last couple of feet. Pucker Factor of 10. Ham, cheesemaster, Quillback and 3 others 6
Members doroger Posted July 30, 2017 Members Posted July 30, 2017 I installed an extra receiver on the front of my truck. I live in a cul-de-sac, just drop the boat, turn the truck around and DRIVE that bad boy right into the garage! Yes, it might take you an extra 2-3 minutes to do this, but you can get that boat right where you want. Don dtrs5kprs, Carl W, Quillback and 1 other 4
motoman Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 My tandem axle is a breeze to move around into the tightest spot in our garage, one man, any direction with these three items. - A pair of Harbor Freight wheel dollys. https://m.harborfreight.com/1250-lb-Capacity-Vehicle-Positioning-Wheel-Dolly-61917.html - and a Trailer Valet (best money Ive ever spent and the best dang invention since sliced bread!).........so easy, our 8 year old girls can maneuver our 21 foot fiberglass bass boat with a 225HO into the garage. https://www.trailervalet.com/?gclid=CjwKEAjw5PDLBRD0rICj35CtqS4SJACH7bsyV6yY8Pkf9HhoH_mJVAtRfx-tSKJZXZwC4kUDexCraBoC28Dw_wcB Carl W 1

Are you saying at the highest point it is manuerverable? I need to slide mine to the right maybe 4 - 5 feet?
dblades Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 You'll definitely need the dollies if you need to get it over that far, I'd think. Carl W 1
