Maxima----Maxima monofilament is the toughest line I've run across and the lines I use need to be pretty tough. Most of the time my line is running across logs, rocks, and other obstructions on the Norfork and White and Maxima has always been strong--it can tangle a little, but I can deal with that compared to it's abrasion resistance.

Maxima is a very good line

If you like Maxima, you'd probably like McCoys Mean Green even better.  It's just as strong, very comparable in abrasion resistance, and it's not as stiff as Maxima.

I'm starting to like braid more and more. Spiderwire Stealth Braid will work in almost every situation. It has way less memory than mono (less loops and twists), and is 2-3x as strong as mono of the same diameter.

It's also way more UV resistant, most of my mono is junk if I leave it sit in the sun for longer than 24 hours. I've got some braid that is three years old and still as strong as ever.

Some guys use a mono or flouro leader if visibility is going to be a problem. I don't bother.

I only have one pole left with mono, and that is 6lb silver thread on my ultra light. I never have tangle problems with it, the silver thread is good stuff.

brad s tuff on the roller bearing of spinning reels. I hav ised both Spiderwire and the slick type of Pro Braid. for pitching and flipping sinko type stuff around docks over cables etc. . I can  assure you Spiderwire is trash when it comes to taking any abrasion. Yes its cheaper but that is the only thing it is good for is saving you money.

Brush power pro

Twist issues nearly disappear when combined with hand closing the bail as mentioned by others.   Casts are much farther, sensitivity and hook set ability far improved.

From the research I've done it seems that most folks are going with braid and tying on a fluoro leader.  Anyone drop shot with their baitcasters?

I have this on all my spinning reels. Having to tie a leader is the trade off, sensitivity is really good. You can reel the knot up close to the reel but if you reel it on the spool it will find it's way in between the wraps of braid.

I use 10 # spiderwire steath braid and any number of different leaders.

What leader knot are u using

Me ? double uni. Tried the albright but had a couple fails. Do not over tighten the double uni that is the best trick that I have found.

Spiderwire is trash

I agree, but their stealth braid  is pretty good stuff. I still haven't tried nano

Triple surgeon's for me. Strong enough and a 10 second tie. It will break if I want it to but has never failed on a fish in MO. Would tie a more elaborate & time waiting knot if expecting 20lb plus fish.
