I use braid to a fluoro leader 99% of the time.  I have had really good results with Berkley solutions mono in 10lb test as well.

I am a strong believer that your line should match up with the rest of your tackle and in turn the purpose your going to use it for. Really that is all there is to it. I use 20 Pro Braid on a 7ft med action spinning rod to pitch and flip sinko type stuff around cables. The reason is it a lot easyier to pitch and flip than the heavier conventional lines and there is about as much abasion resistance as they have. I have not used a leader for anything other than fly fishing since I was about 21 yrs old. It was about that time I finally figured out the fish do not care about the line only whats on the end of it.

As you said, you can never eliminate all the twist, it's just part of the problem of a spinning reel. The ability to back reel would be one of the pluses.

On a different note, the guides on a spinning reel and how they perform hanging upside down instead of up, while under line stretch, seems to be a better system. But I've been too chicken to buy a spiral guide rod for a baitcasting setup.

Yep, I've always depended upon backreeling with a spinning reel, rather than using the drag.

As for spiral-wrapped casting rods, I've owned several, and to be honest, have never been able to tell any difference in any part of the performance of them compared to regular rods.

Never could warm up to back-reeling, I want my anti-reverse on at all times.  Just don't reel against the drag and all is well.

I have zero issues with spinning gear and never really understood why some folks just can't cope well with it.  It is rare that line twist becomes a problem for me, but when it does I make an average cast and do the counter spin thing.   It works for spinning gear and mono/flouro just as well as it does for fly line, but it usually takes about 15 turns whereas with fly line it only takes about 6-8

Most of the twist comes during the cast.  Clean up your casting stroke so that your bait isn't spinning like crazy in the air and I think you'll have way fewer problems with spinning gear.

I just recently bought a Sedona that BPS had on sale and put it on a Lew's rod for an extra spinning rig.  I'm using the braid/leader set up for the first time and so far it's worked pretty good for me.  I went with 30lb super slick PP braid and an 8lb P-Line CX Premium leader.  I probably could have gotten away with a smaller lb braid but I haven't had any issues with it except for the usual line blowing around in the wind.

I am like FW, back reeling makes me crazy.  Was a good useful tactic before drags became good quality, but not for me.  I keep my drag set loose nought that it slios on the hook set, I can quickly add pressure with a finger if need but tougher to reduce drag pressure quickly.   I have finally figured out how to get my leader to mono knots to hold and still mostly am using a leader, if it breaks off I don't mess other it, it just tie directly to the braid and keep rolling.

I cast with my right, switch, and reel with my right.  I hold a spinning rod with all 4 fingers in front of the reel stem, so dropping my pinky or ring finger is just weird and would be awkward.

Back-reeling is for retards.😁  Nobody back reels with a baitcaster.... even though it would be easier to do with one.
