grizwilson Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 My eyes are not what they used to be. I have three T/C Hawken Muzzle loaders,(.54, .50, .45) I hate to put fiber optics on them, just do not like the looks or cost. But am having trouble lining up the black "iron" sights. Thinking of putting dots of paint to make a 3 dot system. Has anyone had success with the sight paint. So far am looking at 3: https://www.amazon.com/Truglo-Paint-Ghost-Glow-Multiple/dp/B000BHNO46/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1503574911&sr=8-4&keywords=truglo+sight+paint https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071NQNZ13/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A13BJ3OYX8P5DW&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004K56TS8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?smid=A2JPOX2BZ8SWVY&psc=1 Has anyone tried something that works or does not or other ideas? I know that I should go to a inline with a scope.... Thanks. “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein

JestersHK Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 My Dad has battled deteriorating eyesight, and when it started he began marking up his sites with some of my old bottles of Testors Enamel paints. I had white, Neon Orange and neon Green. We tried a bunch of combos, but we'd rough up the site a bit with a small file and then apply dashes and later dots to the rears in white and then the front we'd mark up with orange or green. Worked great and held up well. Solvents would eventually dull them, but we'd just grab a toothpick and re-apply. Johnsfolly 1

jdmidwest Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I second the model paint, I have been using orange on my front sites for years. I picked up a large can of orange gloss enamel a few years back and paint lures with it too. grizwilson 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S.
