On the dock early Saturday a.m. with two swimming kids.  "Surf Boat" with a surfer behind headed right at the dock.  Held my arms out like WTH dude? 750 yards of main lake and you want to run this close? The boat passes within 60'-70' of the dock with a look of "what r u going to do about it"?  Took a nice video (language wasn't good) and photos as he passed by massive wake and all. Called the Missouri Hwy Patrol explained the situation and asked IF they had a boat between Cape and Hideway let me know.  Within 6 minutes a Water Patrol Officer called.  I explained the situation and he said we have 4 boats on the water, but not near you, but could have one there in 15 minutes.  I told him "not and emergency and not a big deal unless the guy comes back just thought if you had one nearby".  We spoke for a minute and he said "call me back as soon as he does" and we'll have a chat with him.  Wanted a description of the boat.... told him I could text him a great photo of the boat and driver. We talked a little more and told him that I hate to see TR become LOZ south and he said "I concur completely" and they're working as hard as they can to keep it from complete chaos.  I asked him to stay on it for safety sake and that I appreciate their efforts.  He said "having people complain is the best way to help them out".  Very professional and willing to send an Officer.

Well done there!..........good thinking with the pix and video. Too many stories like this on the internet with no evidence. If water patrol responded, and there was no evidence; that's a tough case to make. But, clowns in that wakeboat cant argue video taken minutes earlier.

Nice to hear water patrol sharing a common interest too!;)

Absolutely do not want to deny anyone their own avenue of enjoyment on the water but do not get the wake board crowd. Second year in a row we have had several boats rafted up and anchored waaay in the back of Jackson Hollow along with many other anchored boats and these guys just come back there and apparently have no clue as to the havoc they are causing, we actually had some ropes bust and it pushed the entire flotilla towards shore. So they just don't give a darn about anyone else, they are trying to entertain us(show off) or they are simply clueless.

Maybe on the dash right in front of the driver there could be an additional informational/warning statement regarding responsibility for their wake. Never happen, just a thought but man some of these guys are extreme meatheads.

I think I had the same boat come by us Sunday morning in the same area and I too did the hands up "WTH are you doing move".  I had never seen this boat on our end before as was the case with 90% of the other boats this past weekend.  He was so close that I thought he was going to take my buoy with him.     Glad that "summer" is over.

With ever-increasing numbers of incidents involving the safety of young swimmers in the water being threatened by these Wake Boat operators, you know it's just a matter of time before a serious incident occurs and its all going to be caused by the lawlessness and "I own the Lake" attitudes routinely displayed by this class of boat owner.

Either someone in the water is going to be run over or a fed-up citizen is going to respond with violence.  When it occurs, and sadly, it eventually will, only then will there be a huge outcry about these inconsiderate jerks.

You'd think. But I'm not sure of the outcry part. Look at LOZ. Almost business as usual.
