Reading thru this thread only served to reinforce my lifelong suspicion that I know zero about the "business world".

A career in the federal government will do that to a guy I guess........

Sorry to hear that. I'm no fan of publicly traded companies either. Unless you are at the top that's the worst thing that you can do to your employees.

My wife's BFF works for ATT wireless and has been with them for 11 years. They trade ownership on average of twice every 3 years.  Always in a perpetual state of policy changes and meetings with new GM's.

With each new owner, surveillance gets stepped up.  No substantial thefts or anything have ever happened but each new change includes MORE surveillance and less chairs.  It probably drives them crazy that they can't put in a toilet cam.  Buncha weirdo's!

The company I work for just went through this. Now that I work for Omni-Evilcorp, my satisifaction with my employer has nose-dived. Hail to the almighty dollar of the shareholder. <_<

Not just limited public companies... lots of private companies are buying/selling as well.

This is true. The company that I work for is privately held. And not all privately held companies are great either but publicly traded companies are not good for anyone except those at the top. When making investors is more important to you that taking care of your employees then you have lost the thing that made your company what it is.
