The Roubi does go underground for quite aways, upper above the wasting stretch gets hammered and can't repopulate other than by reproduction. Lower can repopulate from the Gasconade but gets hammered too.

Sloth, I was actually talking about the lower portion downstream of Waynesville.    The Ruby looses her water much above that for a ways.

I knew that. I've actually never fished that stretch. I've always wanted to though. I need to get over there and just do it sometime. Roubidoux Creek will always hold a special place in my heart. I've probably spent as much of my creek fishing life/hunting time on or near Roubidoux as I have anywhere else. I don't get out and fish it as much anymore, but I spent every summer growing up spending as much time out there as possible. Great memories with my grandpa. I sure do miss him.

For years I had heard that the upper Rou was pretty dismal because it was a losing stream, but one time on our way to the Current a buddy and I stopped at a bridge (just to pee) and the water looked really good so we grabbed rods and gave it a shot.   Never made it to the Current that day.  We did pretty good and had a blast, couple of 14.5 - 15 inchers and a bunch that were 13+.   It's a good wading stream.

It is a great stream to wade. I'll admit, it seems like it was better years ago. I dunno, like maybe before the otters were reintroduced. Seems like most of the goggleye disappeared right about that same time.

Thanks for the update. Need to get down that way soon. I am aware of the 7 inch length limits for goggle eye. Not sure I would be keeping any.

Man, I do not for the life of me know why you would post this. Certain places present unique opportunities that will not hold up under the pressure of larger numbers of fishermen.

So, for the life of me I can't figure out why you wouldn't want people knowing about these spots on a fishing forum.. Why are you here if you aren't interested in sharing?  Just curious...
